Hawai'i Keiki Museum

"FOR VACATIONERS- the museum is geared towards very young children. (Toddler through very early elementary). It’s a one-room warehouse with a few interactive stations (sensory, large-motor, STEM, etc) for kids ages 1-6. We were looking for a beach-free activity on our last day of vacation and heard about the museum. I couldn’t find many details about the museum online, and we took a chance to check it out. My kids are 6,9 and 11. My younger two kids played for about an hour and my 11 year old was completely unimpressed (as 11 year olds can be). I combed through reviews and didn’t see any that spoke to ideal ages. It does appear that the Keiki Museum does camps during school breaks for older children, but the museum itself is definitely geared toward younger children. I enjoyed some of the art in the building! We would recommend to families with young kids but would not particularly recommend for folks with older children!"

"We have had a family membership since the Keiki Museum opened and it has been a great place for play dates, birthday parties, and Saturdays with an hour or two to kill. The place is always clean. The staff is lovely. My son loves playing with the big blocks and other exhibit items. They had a large inflatable whale for a weekend. There have been exhibits on the stars. It is a great place to get the wiggles out after school or get the kids away from video games on a Sunday. I can't wait to renew our membership for another year. We are so lucky to have this place in Kona."

"Fun museum for kids. There is a lot to keep the kids busy. The only downfall is it is super hot in the building. The staff is very relaxed and let the kids play."

"We love this museum ❤️ my toddler is almost 5 and enjoys his time here very much. We got the yearly family plan for $150 and it is so worth it! Our experience has always been positive and the staff is extremely nice and friendly. From the moment you walk through the doors, you will be were greeted with warm smiles and a vibrant, colorful atmosphere that will immediately get the attention of the kiddos. The museum offers a wide range of exhibits and activities that cater to children of all ages, making it a perfect destination for families seeking both enjoyment and meaningful educational experiences. Not only does the Hawaii Keiki Museum excel in providing hands-on and interactive exhibits, but they truly immerse children in the rich history and culture of Hawaii. My little one is excited to learn about the fun and engaging displays geared to spark their curiosity and creativity. The staff at the Hawaii Keiki Museum is another exceptional aspect that deserves special recognition. Professional, attentive, and genuinely passionate about their work, they ensure that every family feels cared for and appreciated. It is clear that the museum's founders, Anne Van Brunt and Dana McLaughlin, have poured their hearts into creating a safe, nurturing environment for our island's keikis to learn and grow. the Hawaii Keiki Museum gets a well-deserved rating of 5 stars! It has not only enriched my childs understanding of our island's heritage but has also gifted our community with a beautiful bonding experience.
