"We have been to most antique shops in Oahu- this is our favorite. It’s a treasure trove of beautiful antiques. The owner was absolutely wonderful to us- we got a postcard, cd, and some Hawaiian airlines luggage tags for free when we checked out. You’ll want some time when you’re inside to be sure you see everything— it’s truly an antique paradise! Looking forward to making this a regular stop on our annual trips! Don’t mind the negative reviews— just don’t bring loud kids or giant bags in here- it’s tight turns and packed with incredible finds! We didn’t need an appointment either!"
"The best antique store in Hawaii. Lots of tikis, tiki mugs, assorted older vintage tiki stuff. Best place to shop for tiki stuff."
"This is the second time I’ve been in this store. The first time wasn’t pleasant but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Also, shop local, am I right?! The owner of Ali’s Antiques has a decent variety of vintage and antique glass, almost all of it over priced. Whatever you need to do to keep a float and put food on your table, agreed? She could kind of identify the major groups of glass makers but could not tell you anything more specific. She was calling all of her glass that was the color green, Vaseline glass and was selling it like that. I first thought that maybe she didn’t know but, she did know, and was purposely misguiding people who didn’t know and then making money off of those trusting customers. The second time I was there, I spent a good three hours, looking for exact pieces to finish my collection. It took me that long because there is no organization to anything and the shelves are packed like an amateur gamer playing Tetris for the first time. Example; mugs and glasses laying sideways on top of either books or plates, with plates on top of that and then vases balancing on top of that, with spoons hanging out of the top of the vases and more mugs hanging off the spoons. It was so bad that at two different times large trucks drove by and things fell from the shelves and broke in the isles around me. It was about 2:30 pm, the store closes at 4:30. I had given her 4 items to keep by the register so she knew I was serious. Being the owner she was the only one there and needed to take a break. I told her I would be in the parking lot waiting, for her to tell me when I can come back in to buy my things. I waited until 3:15 and didn’t get from her so I decided to go in. When I did, she yelled that I only had 15 more minutes. This store is about 400 sq ft. So I jumped and started laughing thinking she was trying to tease me. Nope, just a very very angry woman. She told me I had wasted her entire day touching all of her things and not buying anything. She then said she had 2 appts at 2:30 and I needed to get out. I said ok, looked at my watch saw that it was 3:20.(cuckoo) Only one person came in the whole time I was there. I said I was ready and asked her if I could send my mom a picture of two different items I was trying to decide between to get for her.(that would bring my total number of items being bought to 5) She then accused me of looking up prices on the internet so I can re-sell the item and make more money than she could. I shrugged said ok and put the 2 items down where I found them and went to the register to buy my other 4 items that were not cheap. This is where she went into a crazy rant about me not purchasing the two items that I put back. Honestly guys I should have just walked out, she was acting completely bonkers. So I just let her rage on while I bought my things and left. If you like to go antiquing and like taking your time enjoying the hunt and the history, I would not recommend this store. If you don’t end up purchasing any of her over priced items in a timely manner, to her, you’ll get a scolding and then asked to leave. Oh well, it was an experience and life is full of them. Yeehaw!"
"Should be called Bad Mojo. We stopped the car in the alley by the store to avoid getting lost and to figure out what we were going to do nearby -- including visit this shop. It's a fire lane, so we knew we couldn't park. Even before I stopped the car, the owner was coming toward us aggressively. Then he threatened to write down the license plate and call the police! He could have kindly asked us to move, but he didn't. Even my kid couldn't believe it. We will never go there. There is a bakery nearby, a great little salon and a froyo/boba place across the street -- kind people. I suggest: Stay away if you want a slice of Paradise."
"My friends and I were strolling Kailua and decided “Why not?” when we saw this antique store. We walked in and we were greeted which seemed pretty normal. The lady had asked if we were “visitors” and we said we were just looking around. She proceeded to pretty much badger us with questions. She asked if we were doing a play or something and we said no and that we were just looking. She abruptly said that it was appointment only and that’s why she was asking. When really she didn’t ask any relevant question to bring appointment only. She should have asked at the beginning if we had an appointment instead of letting us get fully into the store. I was actually interested in purchasing some things, but she definitely lost business today."
