About the Wahiawā Botanical Garden
Wahiawā Botanical Garden, located at 1396 California Avenue in Wahiawa, Hawaii, is a stunning park and tourist attraction nestled between the Wai‘anae and Ko‘olau mountain ranges. Known as the "tropical jewel" of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens, this 27-acre garden and forested ravine has a rich history dating back to the 1930s when it was used as an experimental arboretum by sugar planters.
Visitors to Wahiawā Botanical Garden can explore a variety of plants that thrive in the cooler upland environment and shady, humid habitat of the tropical rainforest. Highlights of the garden include native Hawaiian plants, an impressive Aroid collection, tree ferns, and beautiful epiphytic plants.
Whether you're a nature lover, plant enthusiast, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, a visit to Wahiawā Botanical Garden promises to be a memorable experience.

Reviews of Wahiawā Botanical Garden
"Botanical Garden Wahiawa, beautiful place that brings knowledge if you want to learn about the tropical plants of Hawaii. I never seen a cinamon tree or an eucalyptus tree before. It is nice to know that we have that in Oahu. Entrance is free of charge."
"Excellent free botanical garden. Lots of neat trees and flowers. The Rainbow Eucalyptus was especially pretty. There is some hillside up and downs via stairs and ramps. There are volunteers or workers here, but they didn't seem to talk to people. No gift shop or souvenirs for sale. There is a space for group gatherings. There is also a grass area that is flat to hang out and they have mat you can borrow to sit on. Small parking lot, but it was large enough people were able to park when we visited and it was busy. The bridge doesn't actually go to the garden, but gives you a view of the garden and goes to a neighborhood."
"Open free to public with small parking lot. Beautiful tropical garden with exotic trees and plants. Some of the trees are very tall, or rare. There are pathways to self-guide visitors. Near the left end side of the park, there is stair-down paths to lower section of the garden. Bring bug repellant just in case as the lower section is moist and shaded."
"Ended up here and found this gem after touring the Dole Plantation (the garden there is not worth paying for) This place was absolutely stunning, grounds are perfect for pictures and with paved and marked trails. There are guard rails installed because it does get slick and some of the trails are steep. Great array of botanicals, trees, and wildlife. And Best of All it's FREE. Decent size parking lot. We went on a Wednesday afternoon at around 2:30 pm and we were literally the only people there for a good hour. Bathrooms are clean as well. They do close at 4 pm and they close off the parking lot so be sure to be out of the gardens by then. Definitely a must stop place of you are in the area worth the stop for a few hours to explore."
"This is a nice free garden to visit that has some fairly short hiking paths through rainforest scenery. Some of these paths can be steep and include stairs so be prepared for that if you want to fully explore the gardens. All in all, it was a nice stop to pass some time and take in some of the unique nature."
