Leadfield Ghost Town is a historic site located on Leadfield Road in California, United States. This ghost town was once a bustling mining town, with its peak in the 1920s when Charles C. Julian became president of the Western Lead Mines. The town was laid out with 1749 lots and attracted many people to the area. However, when Julian's financial downfall led to the mine becoming unprofitable, the town met its demise. Today, Leadfield Ghost Town is scattered with mines, dumps, tunnels, and prospect holes, as well as remains of wood and tin buildings, a dugout, and cement foundations of the mill. The town is located on the Titus Canyon road, a one-way high clearance unpaved road that sometimes requires 4-wheel drive. Explore the history and mystery of Leadfield Ghost Town, a reminder of the boom and bust of the mining industry in the early 20th century.

"Fun drive, neat little ghost town to visit, dual sport or adventure bikes will have the most fun checking this little gem out"
"Driving the road through Titus Canyon is awesome. You should drive this early in the day to leave time to walk around the site here at Leadfield."
"We were doing the drive through Titus Canyon and this was a great spot to stop and stretch our legs. A few scattered shacks and a foundation made of wood that was the saloon. Pretty neat pit stop."
"A regular car cannot access this place! You need a 4 wheel drive vehicle with at least a foot of ground clearance. The road is steep, windy and dangerous for novice drivers. Not for the faint of heart. Once you start you cannot turn back. It is a narrow 1 way road and follows the side of a mountain with steep hundred foot drops. But well worth it! Gorgeous views await those who dare."
"Ghost town, nearby petroglyphs (built in 1926). Nice trip with 4WD vehicle to go there by Titus Canyon off-road drive. One way road going from east to west (27 miles) for a trip of 3 hours. Finishing in a spectacular canyon narrows. Must ask at ranger stations (visitor center at Furnace Creek, Death Valley National Park) for weather condition (when rain threatens)."
