"This property is the BEST. I've traveled to Reno for work on occasion and after the first time I stayed at the Aloft, I've made it my "go to." The staff is always friendly, well trained, and go the extra mile to make the stay comfortable. The rooms are great as a business traveler - comfortable, clean, enough space for what I want - being lazy, watching tv when not on calls and for doing work, as I always end up doing when not out and about. I've managed hotels and have a graduate degree in hotel management from Cornell - in addition to traveling a ton for work domestically -- and I know good properties. A+"
"Starting with the check in experience. I was extremely calm when I entered the hotel and kept a super calm composure throughout my entire conversation. However, for some odd reason the front desk lady seemed to either be in a bad mood or is just generally rude it seemed like to everyone who does not look like her. I went in and she said the rooms weren't ready at 2.30PM. Not an issue I said I will be back at 3PM. The problem here is I booked two rooms, I just needed one room to put my bags. And I did notify Marriott that I will be arriving at Noon. Its a bit hard to believe that neither a single king nor a 2 Queen was ready. Next I asked her about getting a waived parking fee. Why? Well its simple. There isn't a parking lot that you can pay and park your car at in walking distance. There is no street parking either. Where is a guest supposed to park their car. It's not like the hotel is in downtown Reno. She said sure I will ask the manager. Next thing is the rooms itself. Good view. Good beds. Clean. Amenities: would have been nice if we got any! Forgot to give soap. There was no hair dryer in the king room. There was no microwave in the king room. There was no iron in the king room. All things we needed. Luckily we had gotten two rooms so we went to the bigger room to use the microwave and iron pants. Asked about the missing amenities during checkout: response was oh not all rooms have these amenities. But all rooms surely do advertise them when you are booking the room. A truly stupid design of the bathroom and toilet area for the room with 2 Queens. It is understandable that you wont need a privacy filter on the shower door if you and your wife got a King bed room. But what if its 3 people. The room with 2 queens did not have a lock on the bathroom door. Kinda just stayed open. And you can see someone showering. No privacy at all. Then comes checkout time. I asked if we can get the parking fee waived. The same check in lady went to ask the boss. And boss apparently said sorry we cannot waive it because everyone pays for it. If that is the case. I would suggest the boss to tack on the price in the room rent. What I am saying is reasonable. Because there is noooo where else you can park nearby. I would just stay at the hyatt next door. You should get the marriott experience when you stay at a marriott. This place aint a marriott. Keep in mind i am not talking extreme luxury. I know Aloft comes in the lowest of Marriotts but I have had a lot better experience at other marriotts. P.s. One good thing is they had a pool table in the lobby. I am only leaving this review here because I did not get a survey email after my stay. I have gotten that email after every single marriott stay i have had. I will somehow find a way to post this on Marriott Bonvoy as well."
"This hotel used to be great! It was a wonderful up and coming spot with so much potential. The staff was so welcoming and there were so many amenities. Now, even walking up and asking the GM, who was at the front desk, a question, results in a snappy "what??" Before you can even start speaking. The poor girl who checked us in worked shifts that were only 8 hours apart, and the bartender paid more attention to the men at the bar and ignored all the women until they asked to order. There are no longer typical amenities that you can ask for at the front desk, either, and don't expect to receive your member waters without asking. Of course, the hotel is beautiful and niche but if you need to stay by the airport, maybe try the Hyatt instead. After working hotels for years and even working at both the Aloft and Hyatt in the past, this was a disappointing trip that originally had been so exciting. Pros: beautiful architecture, great brand history, very clean. Great views. Cons: Poor service, understaffed, high and unmarked prices. Housekeeping comes into your room hours before check out."
"Rooms are very clean. They are exactly what is needed for a close to the airport stay. The only gripe is the issues with the digital key. The key gave me a room number that had some in it already. The front desk took care of it and sent me another key..... took about 40 min and gave me another room with someone in it. The front desk them gave me a physical key and all was good! Will stay again!"
