Reviews of McGee Creek RV Park & Campground
"This place was pretty nice. My family and I stayed here for a few nights in a 30-foot Rv. They have some people camping in trailer Rvs, regular Rvs, and also some people in tents. They had full hook ups for the rv; sewage, water, and electricity. The spot we had was 30/50, and it was backed up to a small running creek. The staff were nice and accommodating. They had a little fenced off area for dogs and a trout pond to fish, but you must bring your own gear; there is even a man stationed in a shack to clean and cut the fish for you. Across the street is a small bakery, and next to it is a small store that says ice cream, snacks, and tackle, but every time I tried to visit, it was closed. I was hoping I could rent a fishing pole there, but I never had the opportunity to set foot inside. The stars at night were wonderful, the sound of the creek was relaxing, and the area surrounding the camping site had beautiful mountains to gaze upon; there was still a little snow on the tops when we stayed. It is worth a stay if it suits the areas you wish to visit. The closest gas station was about 10 minutes away with a small general store; they had snacks, essentials, small propane canisters, and even had a kitchen serving hot food and fresh pizzas. About 20-25 minutes away, in the other direction, was mammoth lakes that had a decent sized town that even had a Vons, dominos, and restaurants."
"Great location just west of the 395 across from Crowley Lake. Close to Convict Lake, Rock Creek, Owens River and the town of Mammoth. Quiet campground with clean restrooms and an awesome catch and release and catch and keep ponds. A great place for families looking to camp and watch their young ones land a 5 pound trout. They also have a nice and clean dog park as well."
"I’m not one to leave a review. But I had reservations for about a month. My dog came down sick and was not able to make my trip. When I called 14 days prior to my arrival to cancel I was very disappointed with my options. I lost my deposit, asked if I could change my stay to a later date due to my dog’s illness like maybe in September. Her response was NO. Very as a matter of fact. Now, I know they will be able to fill that spot because of the summer and ample time to do so. My point is why double dip your customers. I’m so disappointed in their customer service. I’m not going to stay here anymore. I’m given them a 3 ⭐️ only because I love to camp here and the staff is very friendly."
"An absolute lovely little gem just outside of Mammoth. Beautiful location with scenic views at the base of the mountain and overall surrounding landscaping/foliage. There’s a stocked trout pond there (no license and no limit) and they help you clean it afterwards, which was so fun for our young kids. We came back with 3 fish! The bathrooms are maintained fairly well and there’s a little convenience store. They have a no outside lights policy, which I really like. Makes stepping out and enjoying the stars much more enjoyable. The only thing that would’ve made our stay that much better would be if they had fire pits. They only allow propane. I’m sure there’s a good reason for this, but we were really looking forward to roasting marshmallows! Otherwise, it is truly a great RV park and we can’t recommend it enough."
"What a beautiful, peaceful time we had at this campground. Every time we come we stay longer. This is our third year and we just love being out with nature. Very clean and well cared for grounds. The staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. Easy access to explore different lakes in and around Mammoth. Tom’s Place is a must stop as there are other adventurous places. We see and explore something different every time. Had great neighbors in the campground we hope to stay in contact with. It’s sad to hear the negative reviews. Some people act as though they are privileged not to follow rules or regulations. The rules apply to EVERYONE!!! I love the fact you have to check in by 6 pm!…it’s common courtesy not to disturb other campers. Rules are rules and if you can’t abide by McGee campground rules then you won’t be missed!! Looking forward to our next trip in 2023!!!!"
