"Nice, standalone cabin but poor furniture for trying to work on my laptop. No shower, and I almost got hurt the first time I tried getting out of the tub. Beautiful view of the lake but a lot of highway noise. I had trouble adjusting the heater, an old style wall heater."
"We booked a room at Tioga Lodge at Mono Lake in Lee Vining. Then our vacation had to be postponed for 2 days, so we requested that our reservation be changed by 2 days. There were several vacancies on our requested day at that time. This occurred 19 days prior to our reservation. Instead, the owner forced us to forfeit the full cost of the room and insisted we pay again (so double) for a reservation for two days later! In our opinion, this was uncalled for and reveals the attitude of the owner towards his customers."
"I stayed at Tioga Lodge (just north of Lee Vining, CA) at the end of August, 2023. The room was quite cozy and comfortable, and even though it is located directly adjacent to Hwy 395, I didn't have any problem with traffic noise (which was a complaint I read in another review). Yes, if you're really trying to hear the traffic noise, you'll hear it. However, if you don't let it bother you at all, then within a very short time, your mind basically eliminates it and it becomes nothing more than background noise. Back to the room... Very clean and cozy. The beds were comfortable, and I had no problem sleeping. The bathroom was "old school" in the sense that it had the old water closet design for the toilet, with the holding tank for the water being at or above head height, and that put the flush handle up high enough that if you're a shorty, you may have to stand on the lid of the toilet to be able to flush after you do your business. The towels were very plush as well. There was no TV, which didn't bother me at all, because I don't watch a lot of TV anyway. And the view of Mono Lake (directly across the highway) is beautiful! Just be advised, that when you open the door of your room in the early morning, you may be blinded by the light! The sunrise seems to come early, because there aren't any mountains to the east to delay the sun's appearance from over the horizon. Also, be warned that when you open the door to your room, you may be blinded by the light - the sunrise reflecting off the lake, combined with the actual light directly from the sun, and you get a double whammy of light! LOL!! The staff was also extremely friendly, and the manager, Gladys was easy to converse with. If there was any one negative, it would be that the Lodge's wifi that covers the guest rooms wasn't working - but if I really needed wifi, I could sit on the front porch of the Lodge and use the main wifi while enjoying the beautiful view of Mono Lake. All in all, I have no serious complaints about my stay at Tioga Lodge, and I would definitely stay there again."
"Flexible check-in times are available, which is convenient. However, no one is actually there (at least around 9pm or 8am). Upon arrival my room key was in an envelope with my name on it pinned to the door. At checkout I had to return my room key to a maintenance guy. Frustrating, since while an attempt was made at cleanliness, our room smelled odd and had cockroaches in it, but there was no one to tell. The bathroom shower was mounted so low it must be for hobbits. No air conditioning is I guess ok for an alpine environment, and we knew that going in, but for $200+ a night after taxes I expected a LOT better. At least the view of Mono Lake was nice despite the traffic noise all night."
