"Best place to start Rainbow Falls hike, if you can drive there because it's not always possible to drive your own car there."
"Can’t really beat .25 miles off the trail for a hot meal and general store. Prices are high, but well worth it. Breakfast burrito was great, and plenty of free coffee refills. I think $5 for a hot shower is worth it, finally felt clean after 170 miles on trail."
"Great hiker friendly facility. Food is good but pricy which is to be considered."
"My wife, 15 month old son, and I spent 3 nights at Red's Meadow in July 2023 and had an incredible experience. If you're looking for a home base for hiking, running, and playing outside in the Sierra's backcountry then look no further. The cabins are rustic and bare bones, but still very comfortable -- the mattress on our bed (Cabin F) was surprisingly good and the kitchens are well supplied. We cooked most of our meals on the bonfire // grill outside and it was a treat to sit fireside at night and see the stars. The staff are all super kind, responsive, knowledgeable of the area, and it's clear that they play outside themselves and value public lands. Several other reviews complained about price gouging but we found everything reasonably priced. $6 for a cold 24oz craft beer in the middle of a national forest is a great deal in my opinion :). It's probably a different experience during peak season -- so we were really grateful to be staying at Red's Meadow during the first week that they opened for the season. Only note is that I wish we would have brought a grill brush. Thank you Claudia, Patti, Joe and the rest of the staff for a great stay!"
"Cool location with a nice mix of day hikers, resorters and backpackers. 5/5 for ambience among the trees with outdoor picnic tables and friendly folk with a backpackers swap/drop free bin (not for day hikers, please be respectful!). Store I'd give 2/5 stars, price gouging at its finest! Nice to have it there and the free bin they provide. Yosemite Valley had way more reasonable prices. Don't look to buy anything from the store unless your totally OK splurging, in dire need of or financially wealthy. The restaurant is 3.5/5 stars, which had a decent to good burger with great service, again totally over priced! Recommendation, eat in Mammoth & restock at Vons Grocery Store unless this is your resupply point and eat in Mammoth Lakes taking a half day or zero day from backpacking."
