"Amazing family ski resort. Loved that they were kid friendly, helped on the lifts, ready to slow or stop the lifts if the kids struggled. No crowds, no lines. I wish I knew about this place sooner, my kids would have been a lot less intimidated while learning. Great variety of trail levels too. Don't be intimidated that you park and ride a lift up some expert terrain. You can ride the lift back down to the parking lot. Plenty of beginner stuff from the main chalet."
"Really cool local resort. Never crowded holds power. Some cool terrain off j1. Close off 395. I would check it out on a mammoth trip if you want a chill day."
"First visit and won't be my last. Nice, wide runs and much less crowded than Mammoth. Enjoyable experience and great conditions."
"I think most people know June as a cool throwback ski resort where you can escape the Mammoth crowds, but I think June Mountain really shines as a summer wedding venue. I'm a local wedding photographer and June Mountain is in the top three local venues for me, and one of my favorite spots to shoot a wedding anywhere on Earth. It's a unique wedding day experience, as guests ride a rickety old double chair up to the lodge and are dropped right into one of the ceremony sites. The views at the site are absolutely incredible--maybe the best in the Eastern Sierra--and the old ski chalet vibe is unlike anything else in California. My pro tip is to do the ceremony on the west (far) side of the chalet, as your guests will look right across the valley at Carson Peak and the spectacular Horsetail Falls which is especially cool in late spring-early summer as the snowmelt works it's way into the valley. I've included some shots here of both ceremony venues, the reception area inside, and the chairlift entrance. If Mammoth is a potential wedding site for you, you;ve got to go check out the set up at June. Your guests will love it."
"The old school double with bar in the middle is the only way up regardless of ability. Brings beginners up over expert terrain. That alone would be awesome, but the ski area at the top is so perfect for families and offers a little for everyone. This place is costly for having that double still as an intro to the mountain, but worth it if you can afford to get there. The runs are massive and forgiving to all. Little June mountain packs a short haul punch for parents looking for steeps and bumps. The cost of rentals is very high here. Food is good and the views out over the edge towards the parking lot are old school epic. The town is picture perfect with quaint motels and lakes. A must visit if you can afford the time and cash needed. A short drive from Bishop if you want to save $."
