"I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews, and I'm usually wary of those who do. However, the 1-star reviews of this resort align with my own experience. We booked a stay here through a Hilton vacation club sales package. Your enjoyment largely depends on your perspective. Here are some key points to consider: The resort is quite secluded, requiring a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel to your car. Parking come at a daily charge of $48, and having a rental car is a must. Despite a 4pm check-in time, our room wasn't ready, and we were compensated $100. While waiting, we grabbed lunch at the lagoon, where four hamburgers totaled an astonishing $170, setting a sour tone from the start. For Hilton Vacation Club patrons, don't anticipate much. Expect to be placed in rooms next to construction zones. Upgrades or room changes will not happen, because I believe they only put you in these rooms because they would normally not be able to rent them to the general public due to the noise. Additionally, rooms are situated under the tram, resulting in constant noise. The single-room suite is spacious and decent, albeit lacking a kitchen and basic amenities like dishes and silverware. The provided coffee pot is rudimentary, and there's no microwave. This, coupled with exorbitant food prices, felt like intentional price gouging, leaving me feeling manipulated. To mitigate costs, we ventured 15 minutes to Waikoloa village for groceries, opting for items requiring only hot water to make. However, lugging groceries back to the room was a chore. Keep in mind, expenses are generally high on the Big Island, so while resort prices may not be egregiously inflated, they're still exorbitant, offering basic to low-quality food. In conclusion, considering the price paid, the value is acceptable if you understand what you're getting: a budget room near construction, with limited convenience. View the resort as a place to sleep and use it as a base for exploring the breathtaking island scenery, rather than expecting an exceptional resort experience. Knowing what I know now, I would not have accepted this “good deal” offer. I recommend finding a nice Air BNB on the east side of the island or a hotel in Kona. It would have been worth it to pay a little more and stay somewhere else."
"We stayed here with a group of 33 on a personal development retreat. The property was perfect for what we needed. Would suggest a car as the property is quite remote if you are on foot. The staff were great and so friendly. Our favorite spots were watching the whales at Buddha point and swimming in the lagoon with the sealife. We will be back again!"
"My husband and I came on a 5 night vacation through a deal where we were given a slightly discounted rate if we attend a time share presentation. (During which they repeatedly told us there would be non pressure, while using pressure sales tactics like telling us we couldn’t have time to consider the offer but needed to decide now. Also, it wasn’t a “presentation” so much as a one-on-one meeting with a representative for 2 hours.) And even though they were trying to sell us a time share, they didn’t put us into one of the time share rooms which had been recently renovated. We were in an older room. We were killing roaches the entire stay, and when we complained about the cockroaches, nothing was done. We got several “I’m so sorry’s” and the hotel sent housekeeping. But then we still saw roaches the very next day. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained and we had a lovely ocean view, but the place is so spread out that it takes a long time to walk everywhere. I’m also pregnant with twins at the moment, so the walking got to be a little difficult, especially when bringing our luggage, or hurrying somewhere during the heat of the day. It took easily 20 minutes to get from our room to the hotel entrance. There is a tram or canal boats to transport you around, but they’re laughably slow. We had a great time exploring the island and made the most of our trip, but could’ve enjoyed it just as much or more at another place. Also, the food anywhere at the resort is extremely overpriced. Overall we felt that Hilton didn’t live up to all their own talk about being focused on hospitality."
"Had a wonderful stay at the Ocean Tower. The resort is huge so plan ahead when going somewhere. The remodeled rooms in the Ocean Tower are great. Pools and lagoon make it easy to just hang out at the resort. Amazing art throughout the property! Turtle in the lagoon was a special treat!"
"We booked this hotel stay on a marketing deal with the promise we would attend a two hour "presentation" for timeshares. It was not a presentation but you sitting in a room with a sales rep for two hours trying to sell you all kinds of packages buying timeshares, which isn't even a property but points. The room they put us in was not renovated and they have a lot of rooms that are very nice. But if you do the marketing package you will not be put in a renovated room even if you ask, or have ants in your room. Overall, we would not come here again. Even if we paid the full price for a renovated room, we wouldn't return to this specific resort. I'm sorry, but Hilton is not accommodating and when we've had issues they haven't shown the willinging to make things right. Just a bunch of "I'm so sorry" and that's it We made the most of this trip, and did so many things and overall we loved visiting this island. But, we wouldn't stay here again and cant say this stay here was of any positive addition to our trip. I gave two stars because the views are beautiful, but you will get that anywhere because this place overall everywhere you look is beautiful. 1 star for rooms because ours was old and not renovated and had ants. 1 star for service because they don't care you have bugs."
