Genki Sushi Ward Centre

"I tried to call at 5pm on a Wednesday and no one picked up the phone. I called several times later, spacing out the calls by 5 minutes. No one picked up the phone. I drove there and found the place empty. When I asked if they stopped taking phone orders the cashier just replied that they're busy. I think I'll find another genki for my take outs."

"We frequent the Kapahulu and Kaneohe restaurants, but this was our first time eating at the Ward Centre location and we won’t eat here again. They have a sign out front asking for patience because they are short staffed, so I had low expectations going in. It all started with a lack of a QR code so I couldn’t place our order. When I asked how to order, the server took my order and then brought me the slip with the QR code in case we wanted to order anything else. I was with my son. At no time was I asked whether we wanted wasabi, ginger, or forks instead of chopsticks. (My kiddo has not yet mastered chopsticks). Along with my food order, I asked for a “Coke and a water.” She brought the water in a plastic disposable cup with a lid and straw. Every time I asked for something (wasabi, a fork for my kid), she seemed like I was inconveniencing her. When it was time to pay, she initially charged me for the adjacent table’s check. She voided that and then charged me for our check. I then noticed that I had been charged $0.50 for a keiki water. At the other locations, we typically aren’t charged for keiki beverages unless they come in a souvenir Genki Sushi cup. More importantly, I didn’t ask for a keiki cup and if it was an extra charge I should have been asked if I wanted the keiki cup. Lastly, I forgot to order mochi dessert before I paid. I put the order in with the QR code and the server came over and asked me if I had ordered it and advised me I would have to pay for it. She brought me the check, ran my card the $6 for the mochi, and then proceeded to take longer to deliver the mochi than the entire rest of our meal took us to order, be served, and eat. I still like Genki Sushi - but considering the poor service which is exacerbated by the fact that this location doesn’t have the trains deliver your food directly from the kitchen, we won’t be back to the Ward Centre location and advise others to skip this one and go elsewhere."

"We have been to this Genki Sushi several times and each time the spicy salmon poke bowl is my favourite. Its strong aroma from sesame oil, the tasty texture of salmon flash mixed with salmon fat, and the delicious flavour of the Hawaiian style of marinated raw salmon makes the rice bowl a fantastic treat. I added a bit of wasabi mixed with soya sauce to give it a Japanese sashimi feel."

"This is a fantastic sushi restaurant. The prices are really awesome, everything is incredibly fresh. They have a lot of creative variety and the best part is the portions. Each roll isn't insane huge so you can order and try a lot of variety. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved everything from this place."
