China Mama - Shanghai Plaza

"Went on a weekend, so it was busy. Waited about 30 minutes, which was average. The atmosphere was nice, almost like a fine dining type restaurant but with a causal feeling. Service was fast once we were seated. There are lots of selections, so we ordered quite a bit for only 2 of us. Everything was delicious. I'd recommend the fried green beans to start atleas, very delicious. Noodles were fresh, and they could really taste the freshness. Felt like price was a bit high, but everything was fresh and delicious. The only thing that bothered me was that my water wasn't filled frequently, but I understand that they were busy. The server was really polite, though. Will be back again to try the buns and the crispy beef. Id also go early cause parking can be hectic in that area."

"Had such a lovely experience at China mama. The food and the service was phenomenal. I was told there is usually a wait but as soon as we came in we were sat. As soon as we sat down they automatically brought jasmine tea to the table. Jay took great care of us and the food came out so fast. I’ve heard about how good this place was and it exceeded my expectations. The portions are huge and shareable. The green beans were so good and I loved the fish in chili sauce. I’d recommend going here to try it out for sure. The atmosphere is clean and they even have pillows in the seats."

"The first thing I have to mention is the hot tea served. The tea is so fresh and light, but punches a flowery flavor. The crispy pork isn’t too sweet, and the lamb with cumin is very well balanced. The servers are very attentive and it’s easy to get their attention if you need anything. Judy was very kind and helpful. There is so much more I want to try here, so will definitely be back with more people."

"I stopped by China Mama at 730pm on a Sunday night thinking it wouldn't be too busy. I was wrong, get a reservation. After a 35 minute wait, I was seated at a table looking into the glass-walled kitchen which was pretty neat. The table was set with complimentary tea, and it was a very useful palette cleanser in between courses. I ordered the orange chicken and the Mama's special pan fried pork buns. I thought I'd have the buns as an appetizer, but, they needed to hand make more so they ended up coming out after 20 minutes mid-way through my orange chicken. The orange chicken was top notch, crispy and flavorful. Adding a little heat with chili oil from the condiments on the table and it was outstanding. The dumplings were absolutely perfect as well. Crispy bottoms, soft perfectly cooked inside. Service was excellent albeit slow since he was handling a ton of tables by himself. Grab a reservation first, but definitely give this a try."
