Reviews of Modern Dental Health
"This was my first visit to Pyramid Family Dental, and everyone there was great! Dr. Rearrick is very intelligent, and all the technicians I saw were very personable. I'm a graduate student, so I appreciate them explaining the costs to me and allowing me to use my health insurance's discount program. All in all, going to this dentist's office was a great experience!"
"Awesome staff, helpful technicians and gentle informative dentist!! I'm a big ol baby and they made me feel comfortable!"
"This office is very professional and a great dental experience. I have recommended this office to several of my colleagues. Gina in the front office is very helpful and knowledgeable about my insurance and billing questions. Christina cleaned my teeth and they felt great! Top notch place!"
"I called Gina (Front office clerk) to schedule an appointment for my daughter and Finance’s x-rays and cleanings. I gave Gina my insurance card and asked them to check for coverage and co pay. She stated that she will and will call me back with update. 1 weeks’ time goes by and no call and then on 03/29/2016, Gina calls me to confirm my appointment. I asked for my charge and she told me, “Sorry I forgot to do that.” She called me 10 minutes later and advised me that x-rays and teeth cleanings are covered and that all we would have to pay is a $30.00 co-pay each. My Finance and Daughter went into an appointment on 03/30/2016 at 3PM. When they got there they were greeted by Gina (Front desk clerk), She accepted a payment for $60.00 for both My finance and Daughter’s co-payment. My Daughter then went into her appointment where they proceeded to do their x-rays and all went well there. The Dentist then stated that she wants to schedule her for teeth cleaning and had a spot open right away. They began setting up the chair and getting tools necessary to clean my daughter’s teeth when Gina screams across the office stating this, “You are not covered for cleanings.” At this time the Dentist took off her gloves and stood up without saying a word and then just put her hand up like she was waving goodbye. My Finance then went to the front desk asking what is going on and she told her that our insurance only covers preventative care (Called my insurance and cleanings are preventative). Gina then immediately said goodbye to my Finance. I found out about all this around 4:30PM the same day when I called the office, I spoke with Gina again on this matter and she then began to explain to me that the insurance doesn’t cover cleanings and that we can have the x-rays emailed to us so we can go to another dentist. I then asked why she told me that the $30.00 co-pay covered both. She avoided answering the question and stated that we can pay 100% up front and the insurance company will refund our money (Sounds like we are covered through insurance in some way). I then asked to speak with someone else or the manager and she said the following, “I guess you can speak with Melinda (The Dentist) but she with a patient so…” I was about to speak and then she stated, “Or you can hold on for a few seconds?” After holding on the line for approximately 5 minutes Melinda (The Dentist) she got on the phone. I started with stating, “I’m sorry having to take you away from your patient.” She replied with, “Its fine I was done already, so what’s up?” (Not very professional way to speak) I explained the entire situation to her and before I could really get into it, she cuts me by saying, “Okay, I explained this to your Finance and I will explain it to you as well.” She then proceeded to explain how we were not covered and that there was a secondary insurance that they did not accept. I told her that I understand all that but why would her clerk advise me that I was? She did not answer the question and then began to advise me that I need to calm down and take a breath and think before I speak. I immediately told her to not lecture me because I already have a father and mother and that I want to cancel myself as a client. She then very rudely said, “That’s fine by me” and slammed the phone down. I had to call the next morning because at this time it was 4:50 and they would not answer their phones due to closing at 5:00PM, essentially begging for them to give me my daughter’s x-rays so I can go to a company that will actually help me with her teeth. Until the day I die I will always slander this company. They are by far the worst company I have ever dealt with and anyone that asks for a referral for Dental and I work in a call center as an Operation Manager, I will make sure to tell them first that Modern Dental off Pyramid is one of the most un professional places I have ever seen."
"The billing practices at Modern Dental Health & attitude of Melinda G. are the most awful I’ve experienced in a very long time. I’ve spent several hours in frustration on the phone & internet trying to rectify their unethical Balance Billing. If you value your time, sanity & possibly even your credit rating DO NOT GO THERE. This Dentist is billing our Insurance OVER the amount that they are contracted to accept for IN-NETWORK services. The amount that they are OVER their contracted price (they got 100% of their contracted price) is what they are saying we owe them. ** This is the basic definition of Balance Billing **. While this practice is not illegal, IT IS UNETHICAL and my Insurance Carrier is in the process of reviewing my complaint against Modern Dental Health. Modern Dental Health is stating we owe a balance of $153 that is 60+ days past due. I feel like this is an extortion attempt that threatens our good credit standing (because if we don’t pay it, they report it as an unpaid debt and/or then it goes to Collections, which then further harms your credit rating). I was appalled by my 3 interactions with Melinda G. (5/22/15 & twice on 5/28/15). Her snappy, matter-of-fact attitude & condescending tone left me wondering why she works in a place where she is supposed to be helping people. MG was beyond rude and just plain awful every time I have tried to resolve THEIR BILLING ERROR with her – even hanging up on me during my first conversation with her. Never once did she offer me any assistance in clearing the issue up – except to insist we pay the bill. Melinda even snapped at me and said they would NOT transfer our records to another Dentist without paying the $153 first – which is in direct opposition to NRS 629.061. I will not subject myself to her treatment again, so I am now leaving reviews. I deserve an apology for the treatment I received from Melinda (on 3 occasions) and the $153 bill needs to be marked PAID (and a copy provided to me) so it never comes back to haunt us again."
