"Summary: Kind staff but we had a very bad experience with our cat due to an Oak Knoll mistake. This led to the cat nearly dying and $7000 extra in medical costs. I’m not writing this to be mean to Oak Knoll. The staff was very kind. According to reviews, they’re great with dogs. But according to the few bad reviews, they’re not good with cats. And that is 100% our experience. Have a cat and considering Oak Knoll? Go elsewhere and save yourself a lot of heartache and money. Details: We went here in the spring of 2022 because our male tabby’s bladder was blocked. The staff was kind and took him in overnight. The issue was that they didn’t place a cone on him and he was able to rip his catheter out overnight. We arrived that Friday morning and while they did admit to the catheter, they said it wasn’t a problem and that he was healthy and could go home. This was good news to us as we simply didn’t know better. Later that night, he was blocked again. I felt the blockage by squeezing his bladder and it was *large*. We called the Como Park Animal Hospital and they said to come ASAP, and so we immediately brought him. When there, we mentioned his stay at Oak Knoll and the vet said that he never should have been released after ripping his catheter out *and* he should have been placed in a cone. They went as far as to say that he likely reblocked so quickly due to the irritation in his urethra from ripping the catheter out. They explained all of our options (something Oak Knoll didn’t really do) and we decided to leave him overnight to be unblocked. They called and explained that at this point, his urethra was so inflamed that he needed PU surgery or he’d die. We went forward with that and thankfully he’s now fine. However, two vets and a surgeon said that the lack of cone which led to him ripping his catheter out was an egregious mistake that contributed greatly to his poor health and the necessity for surgery. What could’ve stopped at $1000 and a healthy cat if Oak Knoll had better practices ended up costing $8000 and an entire week of very poor health for the poor guy. If you read the other negative reviews, it becomes apparent that Oak Knoll simply doesn’t care for cats. They are supposedly awesome with dogs, which is great! But I’d absolutely avoid bringing a cat here under any circumstances."
"Brought my cat Tuesday for the first time (annual and vaccine boosters) Vets and staff were super friendly and kind. My cat is quite shy but they were patient with her and answered all my questions. You have to call if you are a first time client and give a deposit (50 dollars), and it may be a few weeks out, so I recommend scheduling early! They really seem to care a lot about their patients and I feel more informed about my cat’s care now. Definitely will be going back for all my pet care needs!"
"We get fast, friendly service from Oak Knoll. It may take a bit to get in for your first visit but I definitely recommend the wait. I have had dogs my whole life but as a first time primary dog owner, I have a lot of questions and anxiety about my dog. They’re kind and answer all my questions and offer help with any concerns. We used to go to Banfield and Oak Knoll feels much more affordable and WAY better service."
"I can't say enough nice things about the staff at Oak Knoll! They were super friendly on the phones and really nice in person! It was a night and day difference from the other Vet I have been brining my dogs to over the years. I will definitely be a customer for life!"
