"Doctors were great, very friendly and comforting. Office and billing staff were terrible and borderline FRAUDULENT, BE CAREFUL. I was overcharged on top of the fact that I wasn't supposed to pay anything. I tried calling and dealing with the office directly but was never called back or received the information I requested. I have been trying to speak with the office manager "Jennifer" but she is conveniently always busy. Seems like the staff is instructed to say that every time someone with concerns call. I finally called my insurance and was helped on the backend."
"This office is a joke. I waited 3 hours for a routine annual appointment. None of the receptionists will smile or say hello. It's all very mechanized. You are a number not a person. I finally got back to see the doctor who was pleasant as can be and took her time answering my questions, which was great. I was then ushered into a second standing- room only waiting area. After another 45 minutes I was told the lab closed and I had to come back another day to have them done. Again, zero emotion or a single smile from staff. I'm happy with the time I had with the doctor, but your front desk staff shows a lot about the care you'll receive.. also everyone was chomping on gum, who does that in a medical facility??"
"Still so grateful for Dr. Kirsten. Changed my view on how health care can and should be. I feel very cared for and safe with her. As for the long waits—it means she is spending as much time with all her patients and she will with you if you need her. And it also means she’s popular. Just plan your day accordingly. It’s totally worth having an intelligent, caring doctor on your team."
"Dr. Rojas is truly the best. She always takes the time to listen and make me feel comfortable and safe. The gowns actually fit your body and all staff is ready accommodate your needs and make sure you are comfortable. I'm so glad I switched to seeing her and coming to this office. The renovations weren't just to make the place nicer they truly make your experience better."
"I am incredibly disappointed by my experience with Dr. Joe Rojas at WHASN Meadows. TLDR: I had severe complications from a routine hysterectomy performed by Dr. Rojas. The complications included several hospitalizations for a terrible infection, a collapsed lung, pneumonia and pleural effusion. I have been unable to work for months. I need accommodations to return to work but he is unwilling to fill out the forms that I need to get the accommodations that would allow me to work again. The full story: I was suffering from uterine fibroids and went to WHASN. I was initially extremely pleased that Dr. Rojas approved a hysterectomy for me. I am in my 30s and I don’t have children. When I told him about my issues in the past regarding doctors not approving my sterilization because I am childfree, Dr. Rojas enthusiastically affirmed my choice and said ‘Your body, your choice.’ This made me happy because he actually listened to my needs, that would soon change. I scheduled my surgery. The staff at the hospital were friendly and I thought that everything seemed to have gone well after it was done. I was sorely mistaken. I have had 3 other surgeries in my life and I have not experienced anything like this. About 5 days after the surgery, I was hospitalized for an ileus. It can be dangerous, but this a common complication from surgery. At the ER a collection of fluid was found near my liver, but the doctors said that it could just be from trauma to the area from the surgery. It took about 10 days for the ileus to resolve. I was discharged from the hospital still in acute pain. I could not sit up on my own or walk without assistance. I eventually had to use a walker to get around. The pain got worse, and I got antibiotics from WHASN. Dr. Rojas was on vacation at the time, so I had to follow up with other doctors in the office. Eventually the pain was too much and I was instructed to go back to the hospital by WHASN. A very large abscess was found on my liver. A drain was inserted into my side as 500 ccs of puss slowly leaked out of my body for about a week. The pain was excruciating and I was on morphine and other opioids. The abscess was so heavy that my lung collapsed. One of the nurses told me that I was lucky that I didn’t get sepsis from it. My breathing was labored and painful. I was discharged with instructions to see a pulmonologist. The pulmonologist told me to get my lung cavity drained. A long needle was stuck through my back and into my lungs and the fluid was pulled out. The pain decreased significantly, but I still had issues breathing. I was hospitalized yet again for pneumonia. The infection from my liver made it to my lungs. I was bedridden for about two months. I am in physical therapy because my muscles atrophied. When I had follow up appointments, at WHASN I would have to wait for 1-2 hours in the waiting room to be seen. It is almost impossible to get someone on the phone. You will not get quick assistance from this office. You have to leave a message and hopefully get a call back in several days. It has been 5 months since the surgery. I have permanent scarring on my lungs. I have had 1-4 doctors appointments every single week. Dr. Rojas explained that there was saline, used to flush the surgery site, left in my body after the surgery that got infected. As the months went by, Dr. Rojas became progressively short and rude during my appointments. I felt rushed, and at one appointment, he walked out of the door in the middle of me speaking. Unfortunately, my FMLA has run out but I am no longer able to perform my previous job. My company is willing to transfer me to a work from home job as I heal, but Dr. Rojas refuses to fill out the paperwork for me. I have called and emailed his office, but they do not respond. Do not go to WHASN Meadows if you want personal or quality care. After some research, I found that Dr. Rojas lost a medical malpractice lawsuit for taking the wrong ovary out during a surgery. I wish I found that out before this surgery."
