"I cannot understand how this school is still functioning. Everything about it is a mess that needs to either be fixed or go. The main problem is the administration, with them making horrid decisions at least once a month. Before, this school used to be both middle school and high school, but because the school had too many people, they created another campus and sent the middle schoolers there, except the 8th graders. Now, this campus is essentially a high school that includes 8th graders that have the mentality of 6th graders due to covid and online classes. If they want to make a new campus, they should move the entire middle school there instead of including them as high schoolers. The administration also decided to let middle schoolers attend homecoming, and to let sophomores attend prom in order to be more "inclusive". At the homecoming dance, there were many 8th graders causing disturbances, such as popping the balloon decorations, purposely bumping into people, and I even witnessed one of them shrieking at a passerby for no reason. Even though I dislike 8th graders attending homecoming, since they are on the same campus, and every other grade is going, I suppose it can't be helped no matter how distasteful it is, but sophomores attending an event that's for the graduating class shouldn't be tolerated. Also, there was a one week school shutdown for CCSD earlier, but this school did not follow that because it would apparently "look bad on their record." Over 5 teachers are currently out due to covid. There are multiple students in each class out due to covid. Their solution to this was to keep classes going, and to have the other teachers sub during their break time. This place is understaffed too, and the art teacher has to teach geography, a subject they have no knowledge of. And today, they announced that they would make it so that mobile devices could no longer connect to the school wifi. The wifi here has always been atrocious, being extremely slow and hardly connecting, and after months of promising to get better wifi, they decided that students' phones were the problem. Instead of spending money on upgrading the wifi, they spent money to install hardware that blocks out phones from connecting, and even after all this, the wifi is still just as slow as before. This school acts as if it has no money in more ways than just this, such as the bathrooms. The bathrooms always smell, and there is one in the red hall that doesn't even have a lock. A while back, they were renovating bathrooms, but they renovated the ones that were perfectly fine, and did nothing to the one without a lock. The school lunches are one of the worst aspects of this school. We were recently served a breakfast ham sandwich that was maybe made from chicken, but the ham was grey in some parts and pink in other parts. One time this school had no paper trays so just decided to give out everything in grocery store bags, and they don't even give napkins with the food. Quite some time ago, this school gave out food that contained pork without telling any of the students. You would think that a school with many Muslim students would care more about this matter, but they didn't, which resulted in people panicking and now the food doesn't include pork."
"Misplaced funding and bully-tolerant. My daughter attended this campus for one semester of eighth grade, that's all she could tolerate. Although most classrooms had chrome books for each of the students, the plumbing would flood multiple times a month, resulting in the students sitting in 2+ inches of water in the classrooms and through the halls, and being instructed to continue to sit in it and finish their work. I don't understand how this school can call themselves a school of "science" when there was no hands on teaching in the science classrooms, no experiments, no projects, nothing. Most instruction and work for the kids is done through a laptop, sitting at their desks quietly. If you want your child to sit at a computer all day with minimal effort from staff and "teachers", send them here. Once a month or so, students are crammed into the cafeteria for a whole day long of tests on, you guessed it, laptops. These tests are not graded and inputed to help with your child's GPA, but rather results are sent out to provide more funding for the school. Really not comfortable with my daughter being used as a pawn to score this "school" more money. Staff is rude and incompetent, never responding to grievances in a timely manner and downplaying problems at their location. Their strict phone policy is unethical, my daughter should be able to reach me at all times, regardless of where she is. For having her phone out in the hallway to text me in-between classes, she got it taken for several days before I could come pick it up from the school. This is a HUGE problem for us as she walks to and from, and needs a phone for safety reasons. I had to instruct the school to never touch her or my personal property that could pertain to her safety again and they came back with rude replies. The bully-tolerant atmosphere made my child miserable, as staff and admin were too preoccupied by testing the students to do anything about it. Teachers are manipulative to students and play favorites among them, further alienating new transfers from their peers. Lastly, I saw no difference in my daughters academic abilities after attending. She excelled academically and emotional when attending Del Webb, but took a steep drop in both categories once attending this school. If your child is happy where they're at, don't uproot them to a new school with new kids and new procedures, especially not for this sad attempt of a "better" education."
"Overall schools pretty nice its got its administrative flaws and it goes through some interesting hiring cycles, but most of the teachers thay have worked there are very competent at what they do and enjoyable. Now those that are enrolled are a little well how do I put this dicks thats the basic word I can use but most of the time students are just some of the worst people to be around and this mainly because enrollment is random they just pick students out of a hat from my knowledge. So you will have some great for McDonald's employees or rocket scientist its all very random so as a student its a 50/50 chance you are going to have a good year, but your teachers are your best friends same with the ladies at the front desk and Mr Ismail he literally is one of the most important people to talk to and knows what he is doing. The school is good for learning not always for the social experience."
"This is the second time my children have been enrolled, because of the distance I withdrew them a few years ago. I am excited for them to return. They actually care about the kids here.! It's amazing!! As I'm reading all the illiterate comments that students and parents make on here, it's a bit comical. Kids are cussing in the hallways, Kids will turn bad, teachers are trash, Good luck in public school! This school is absolutely amazing and just wait and see how bad it actually is in public school. You, like myself, will wish you kept them here. Good luck! Not every student in every teacher is going to be perfect, but with a lower number of students in the school again to you it's much safer and the curriculum so much stronger, the children will learn so much more here then elsewhere! Remember the reason you chose this school. And stop complaining. It's not the teachers faults. There are bad disrespectful kids everywhere. They just have less and handle it better here ❤️❤️"
