"I was stationed here from 99 until 02. . . this base will send you to a dark place and destroy your motivation . . . cold, desolate for 9 months out of the year, and 2 hours from anywhere year-round. This base is notorious in the Marine Corps as the worst duty station in the world, even worse that 29 Palms. Nobody wants to go here."

"Was there in winter 1973, hiked out with Lima Co, 3rd\7th Marines , in 3±`feet of snow, with temperatures of 5°F by noon. With all the gear needed for a month in the snowy bush, Nov. to Dec. Coldest night was -15°F on the ridge top. What trip that was."

"Amazing place for military to hike all year round. Love the views. If the Exchange has the items, they have a wide range of outdoor gear. Recommend they sell ski equipment and it would be the best place to shop. Selections go very quickly."
