"Do not email a short request in an effort to reach out. You will receive a phone call stating “I’m not trained in that kind of assessment” when they don’t really know what’s going on and then question why you hang up. That’s called making assumptions. And you’re supposed to be “helping” people. GOOD JOB!!!!"
"There is a review on here that is posted on multiple sites as well that I think paints Dr. Maurice B Smith in a terrible light. Before going in, it even made me a bit worried, but I’m glad the review was horribly wrong. I have recently went in for an ASD assessment, and I have nothing but praises for Dr. Smith. The review from a year ago claims that he only thinks stereotypically of Autism and Autism in adults when that is far from the truth. I am not considered as the reviewer says, “stereotypical type of ASD”, but was taken seriously with my assessment. Many times during the assessment, he explained to me about the wide spectrum of ASD and how it can be from Mild to Severe and he acknowledges new studies. He is not outdated at all and Dr. Smith was very kind and made sure I was comfortable. I also appreciate how thorough he is in his testing for ASD, and how he wants to make sure to test for other neurodivergent symptoms as well (Adhd, OCD, bipolar, ptsd, etc). In conclusion, I am thankful for Dr. Smith being kind doctor in this field. There are many doctors who don’t take their patients seriously or rush the diagnosis. Dr. smith is not one of them."
"I would not go here if you are not the stereotypical type of ASD you see on mainstream TV and in movies like “Rain Man” and Sia’s “Music”. To call Doctor Smith’s perspective outdated is an understatement . Despite an estimated two thirds of autistic adults still being undiagnosed, Dr. Smith explicitly stated that he feels that it is being over diagnosed, literally saying doctors are treating it as the “soup of the day”. In my opinion this bias dramatically affected the outcome of the appointment."
