"There was a strong incense smell when I did my tour, and the manager assured me they'd be able to remove it. I trusted her and put my deposit down, but when I moved in the smell was still there (albeit slightly reduced). And the manager didn't acknowledge that the smell was still there, and didn't work with me or give me any options. (They're lying in their response below, she didn't just say it "would be addressed to the best of their ability," she was very reassuring that she'd be able to take care of it. It felt like she was nervous and really wanted to get me to put that deposit down. I initially put 3 stars but reduced it to 2 because they continue to not take responsibility.)"
"Hello, This is the first time I have ever written a review for Joppa Lane Apartments and I’m truly sorry to say how disappointed I am with the current management. Customer service is haphazard, unpredictable, inept, unreliable and incompetent. 1. While the pool is a nice size and is one of the reasons I renewed my lease, it is becoming increasingly uncomfortable to swim in as the water is FRIGID and the only thing the management will do is share that the heater is running. Despite numerous complaints and concerns voiced by many, the management hasn’t personally investigated or taken the temp of the water even though the latest person who is fixing things around here already has a bad reputation amongst the tenants and is not considered reliable. I have shared my concerns numerous times about the pool to no avail. They simply state that everyone has a different tolerance and different preferences, no matter how many people share that the water is waaay too cold. Today it was 91 degrees outside and still the pool was so cold the children’s lips were turning blue. Additionally, it is dirty and needs to be cleaned more often. And so I stayed for…what?!? 2. Upkeep of the property. Take a look at the staircases going into the building. They are crumbling. Literally falling apart. We have been told they will be fixed for MONTHS now. It still hasn’t been fixed. Look at the grounds. At the stucco, at the concrete wall surrounding my patio. It is embarrassing and in terrible need for repairs 3. Repairs: they have not been able to retain consistent, reliable staff to fix and repair various issues in the apartments for months now. Everyone keeps on quitting on them, so that it takes weeks and months for repairs to be completed if it isn’t critical. 4. Packages are taken all the time and they haven’t tried to put together a system to store packages as they do on other rental properties in the Twin Cities. In conclusion, our concerns are not taken seriously. The lack of quality customer service, well, customer service in general, and the sizable rent increases despite the lack of modernizing and basic upkeep is rapidly making this complex the one that people are warning others to stay away from. No one in my community wants to move here now. I truly used to love living here. Now I’m beyond frustrated and I don’t know who to turn to with my concerns as no one seems to care."
