Malvern Station 200 East 1st Street, Malvern, AR 72104

"Malvern Station is for Amtrak and Union Pacific. Passengers have to wait outside under the shelter. No Amtrak ticket booth at this station. Cell phone reception is good. There's a portopot instead of a restroom. The building itself is for Union Pacific staff, so the inside is closed to the public. This station is much less welcoming than some others in Arkansas. Malvern is clueless about visitors or proximity to a national park. The area is quiet, not unsafe but not someplace you want to be alone at night waiting long. A couple of old budget motels are within walking distance but don't look good for tourists. Uber & Lyft rides are available but actually just work with the local cab companies. Uber takes a half hour to get here. The Greyhound Bus / FlixBus station is a 25 minute walk. If you're driving by Google Maps the directions currently tell you to turn from 270/Main St onto First Street, but that's impossible. Turn north onto Second Street, then make the first left and go down the hill to the end of the street."
