Bridging Hope Counseling

"The experience I have is with a family member who saw Mai. I was very optimistic reading the reviews about Bridging Hope and even the first couple visits went well and she did connect well. Our situation is not common like depression, anxiety, but certainly not a rare condition. Mai claimed she had experience in this topic, but her advice was opposite of experts in the field. When a loved one has a particular issue, it is normal to read as much as you can about it and I am very fortunate to have multiple friends who are Masters licensed clinical social worker credential and Doctoral psychology level therapists who also gave me feedback consistent with what I have read. She was very closed to feedback regarding this. She would say that I’m not providing facts, even with evidence provided after the fact to the contrary. The treatment and assessment really are counterintuitive so it was understandable in the beginning that she didn’t understand how to proceed. She would ask for that information. I have my Masters myself and know how to find credible sources, but then criticize that there were too many emails when this documents were in separate emails so hard for me to combine. After getting the documentation showing I was correct, there was never any acknowledgement that her assumptions were incorrect. I tried to balance that my family member liked her with the risk of her not taking current information and actually making the situation worse. She did tell me I was always polite in how I approached her, but she still would not change her practices. Her supervisor acknowledged that she doesn’t really have much experience with this. She also would make decisions about my family member’s care without hearing my perspective, when I am legally able to be part of their care. I am concerned for future patients that may have a similar issue that she will continue to not educate herself and be very closed off to others trying to help her get up to speed. I would advise Mai to wait before making judgements until you have all the information and check your confirmation bias. Your patients need objectivity and good advice."

"Had a very disappointing experience here over the course of several months. While they were able to get me a first appointment rather quickly, my telehealth sessions were all underwhelming and felt like a waste of time and money. My therapist would sit there silently for nearly the whole session, every time, and it was unclear if she was even paying attention to me, or to something offscreen. Whenever she did say anything, it was usually just to repeat an insight that I had already spoken about. I have seen therapists on and off for nearly 6 years, and this was the worst experience I have ever had with one. This was actually the first time I've ever "broken up" with a therapist (vs. changing therapists due to moving/insurance changes). In addition, the office would not cancel my last appointments -- they insisted that I contact the therapist directly, which was very stressful as someone with diagnosed anxiety and trauma. Definitely consider somewhere else for therapy services."

"Horrible treatment from their therapists. Sent a girl in crisis home because she was unable to speak about her trauma that day and she ended up hurting herself. She went there for help and support and the therapist asked her to leave!"
