"They assisted in helping me with my foot issue. I only went as part of a second opinion. Not sure if they take many insurance plans, so i would recommend checking before you go! Overall not a bad experience"
"Dr. Whittaker is very nice, but unfortunately, I regret having my tenotomy (a toe operation) done here. I was never told that the operation would permanently stop my toe from being able to bend, and only learned that after finally visiting a different foot surgeon for a follow-up. I wish I'd gotten accurate information about how this operation would permanently affect me beforehand, so I could make a well-informed decision about whether or not to do it. I even set up a follow-up meeting a few months post-operation with Dr. Whittaker to express my concern about my toe still being unable to bend, and was never told that this is actually a permanent side-effect. I'm glad I finally got an appointment with a foot surgeon to get the full story, but it shouldn't have come to that! In general, this office was very difficult to communicate with when I had questions post-operation. I wish I would have gotten a second opinion *before* the operation, and that I hadn't gone with this clinic at all. :("
"I never dreamed that my first appointment with Dr. Sarah Wittaker at the Highland Foot & Ankle Clinic would turn out to be the high point of my day. She is knowledgeable, professional, kind, attentive, and personable. My foot problem was minor, yet she retreated me as if I was her most important patient that day. I recommend her highly."
"Doc H. didn't address the fact that my foot mechanics were leading to a knee injury despite me telling her that I knew it was coming. (My foot mechanics were creating torque in my knee when I walked. Similar had happened to my other foot and knee a few years before.) Lo and behold a knee injury occurred a few weeks later. (sarcastic: Thanks.) Due to still needing to fix my foot mechanics, I went for a second opinion with another doc. It was too late for my knee, but at least I figured I could prevent things from getting even worse. I didn't want additional x-rays (as I'd already needed quite a few this year), so I requested the x-rays taken from Highland Foot & Ankle clinic to be sent to the 2nd doc on a CD. The CD was found by the 2nd doc's office to contain the x-rays of other patients but not my own images. It was a wasted doc visit that I'd be charged for. I had to reschedule with that 2nd doc and wait additional days to do so while I waited for Highland to mail another CD of what would hopefully be my images this time. I asked Highland to cover the charges for my first visit (with the 2nd doc) due to the appointment being wasted as a result of us not having the proper images sent. They eventually agreed to pay the charges. That was approximately 4 weeks ago. No payment has been received by the 2nd doc's office yet. Highland receptionists keep telling me the payment has been sent. I've tried to reach those in charge multiple times to clear this up. I would never recommend this office. They don't keep their word, they don't listen to the patient, and they don't take responsibility for their mistakes. They've also made it difficult for me to reach anyone other than receptionists. I'm currently on hold for Doc W. to address this with her when she comes in from lunch before her 1pm appointment--the same time she's due to return from lunch. 1 minute remaining after being on hold for 15 minutes. What do you bet I don't get to chat with her? I'm sorry that I ever went to this clinic. UPDATE: I didn't get to talk to a doc. I spoke with another receptionist. I worked for weeks to get Highland to pay for the visit they wasted. They had agreed to pay and told me multiple times that they had already sent a check. My 2nd doc's office never received a check. Meanwhile, I also worked to remove the responsibility of paying for that appointment from myself as I wasn't responsible for sending the wrong x-rays. After weeks of waiting for this check that supposedly had been sent by Highland, my 2nd doc's office finally wiped the bill from my account after I contested it repeatedly. NOW, Highland says they finally called my 2nd doc's office and learned the cost of the appointment was wiped off my account and thus their "hands are clean of this"--(Andrew). Lying to me for weeks about sending a check and letting me do all of the work to protect myself from paying for their error is apparently how they do business. Just one patient reading this and choosing not to go to them will cost them more than the $99.72 appointment of mine that they dragged their feet to pay. Please consider not using them; then maybe they'll learn something from this."
"I had a weird foot injury that occurred weeks after I had fallen down some steps and I thought that I had escaped injury. The pain was increasing and preventing me from working out and even going on long walks. Dr. Whittaker took the time to listen, then researched it a bit and came back with a simple thing for me to make to insert in my shoe for a few weeks (took a bit longer though). It worked fabulous with no other expense, medication, or appointments. I was dubious at first, but she was spot-on. I highly recommend this clinic. I also went to her when I had a toenail fungus infection from a bad pedicure place in Highland. She understood that I did NOT want to be put on any oral medications. She prescribed two topical treatments (one of which she had to do extra work to get my insurance to cover) and it worked like a charm after prolonged application. She took the time too to explain the risk of pedicures, but understood that I was not going to give them up. She is really easy to work with and very flexible, yet very knowledgeable."
