"Rating a 2/5 because the techniques used during my time here from 2017-2018 were admittedly helpful. EMDR definitely worked well for me. I cannot say the same for the therapist I was seeing at the time, however. Book smarts does not equate to proper interpersonal communication or basic compassion. First off, if you are a victim of abuse and are currently experiencing or working through trauma, please do yourself a favor and find another psychological resource. Seriously. Upon reflection, I realize that I was more of a customer than a client. I would show up early to every appointment but was often forced to wait upwards of an hour before my therapist was ready to see me. After awhile, even the receptionists started to feel sorry for me. Very unprofessional. What’s worse, the therapist I was seeing was very judgmental. She came from money and many of her “solutions” required me to just throw money at my problems. This is not feasible for the majority of people. I was made to feel ashamed for a lot of things out of my control. For example, I have a long history of financial abuse. I also couldn’t drive at the time. Her solution? Use Lyft everywhere. Anyone that uses ride share services will tell you that it’s very expensive. I mentioned this to her and her response stayed with me. “You don’t want to use Lyft to improve your life because you want to be a victim? That’s fine. It’s your life.” That was the last time I ever set foot in this place."
"If you'd like a subpar experience, look no further than this sorry excuse for a "psychological resource"."
