Big Spirit Resort

"I personally did not stay here, but my relatives did. My impression of the rooms was totally positive. I was concerned with the glass main door, but it was heavy duty with black out drapes. I felt relieved for my relative's safety. This is a small resort, mom and pop atmosphere. There's a take out chicken place next door that smelled Heavenly, but you couldn't smell the chicken inside the room. The room felt like a studio apartment with everything you would need. Honestly, I was totally impressed, and hope to stay there the next time I am in Spirit Lake."

"We was passing through Iowa and decided to stop here. It is a very nice, friendly and clean place to stay. We booked late in the day and was taken care of wonderfully. My husband went out with a fishing guide and caught walleye and perch."

"Nice motel. Two adults and two children stayed in the 1 room suite for 2 nights. It was nice, but not a place you want to spend a lot of time in. Good for being out all day and coming back to sleep. Pros: close to spirit lake and lake Okoboji, everything was new/remodeled, kitchenette was great, has a table and chairs to have your meals which was awesome especially during covid pandemic. Cons: door is glass so people can see in if the curtain isn’t fully closed (hard to come in and out with the curtain drawn too), pretty small room (beds very close together, maybe 1-2 feet between them and not enough room on the outsides to get into the bed), no inside locking mechanism on the door (no chain lock or bar)."

"This place was amazing! My sister's family and I stayed the weekend in a huge room that had two bedrooms plus fold-out beds, plus two bathrooms with showers. We were greeted warmly with a smile by Judy, one of the owners, and she made absolutely sure we knew how to get around town and have a good time. She told us about Spirit Lake history, explained the trail map on the wall and gave us great recommendations for places to eat and drink! We will definitely be staying here next summer to experience more of the area!!"

"Totally blown away by this place. Everything was neat and new--rooms were clean and super comfortable. I was surprised to find that my room had a kitchenette, my wife and I were able to swing through the local store and grab some groceries and do some of our own cooking, made the stay really cozy. We will be back, this place is a gem!"
