"I was out on a business trip in Minnesota and decided to stay at this hotel... As soon as I saw the Engine outside and the water tower, I knew I was going to love the place. You walk in and there are train tracks still on the ground, the dining area looks like a waiting station... Beautiful!! The staff was also amazing and very helpful"
"Where to begin, my wife and I reserved a suite at the Best Western Plus Como Park Hotel and it was a living hell. Not enough parking for the hotel, overflow was 2 blocks away. Hot tub was colder than the pool, TV in the bedroom had no cable so there was zero TV, the batteries were taped into the remote. Food from the previous guest still on the cabinets. Stains on the carpet which looked like blood, also on the curtains. Dozens of unattended kids running down the halls, knocking on doors and kicking walls. Desk personnel could not take control of the hotel to the point we had to walk out. Biggest waste of money, EVER!! Never again and stay away!"
"It is what it is. Rooms are okay, but some light fixtures and lamps didn't work or turn on. The bathroom door has a lock that didn't lock so what's the point. Our room was too small to have two queen beds put into it, but whatever. Front desk manager said there was a $20 deposit for incidentals that we would get back at the end of our stay. He offered us a shuttle ride back from the overflow parking lot and we accepted. We were charged $18 at 1am in the morning for the shuttle. To top it off, when we left in the morning, they only had one person working at the desk, so he "couldn't" possibly shuttle us, even though we were already charged the $18. Breakfast was not topped off either."
"Place is overall clean. The whole building still has a smell about it that is indicative of its former use. Understaffed, with nothing at the front desk to get the attention of someone to help you. I came in with a colleague, and somehow, whether due to the inexperience of the staff member at the front desk, or due to faults in their system, we stood at the front desk for around about ten minutes while booking issues were sorted out. I understand the inconvenience of being new to a job, but calling a manager for help earlier than later would have been the better choice. Upon getting a room key, map, and directions around the building, I could hardly make out anything the front desk agent said because of pure tight-lipped mumbling; a very hard to understand speaking voice, and not for lack of volume. Parking, luckily, was not an issue for me as I came in early enough that most patrons were not checked in for the night. But don't expect to find any parking by the time 7pm rolls around. I nearly live on the road, so I needed somewhere to do laundry. This hotel facility has NONE. No where on the premises will you find a guest laundry. This is the first hotel I've ever stayed in without one. Even in my room on the second floor, and throughout the whole building, you can smell the chlorine of the pool, which happens to be wide open in the lobby. Very echo-y as well, so you will hear kids and adults talking in the pool throughout the lobby and into your room-- oddly enough from my exterior window or maybe my ceiling vent next to it. I'm not sure. Regardless, I'm glad I haven't had what could have easily been a worse experience here, but the thought of ever risking that possibility again will probably keep me from coming back."
"It's a great hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, having the hotel in an old train depot makes for some fun architectural flourishes, and the rooms are extremely quiet and comfortable. But the parking is a whole other story. There are about 15 -20 spots in front of the hotel, and if those are taken (which they almost always are), then you have to park in the spillover lot which is about a block and a half away. I was there in September and all I had to deal with was walking to my car in the rain. I can't imagine staying there during a Minnesota winter in January or February and having to traverse snow, ice, and frigid temps just to get to your parked car."
