"WARNING TO ALL CANCER PATIENTS! My aunt was placed in baptist health rehab facility for cancer February 21 for the reason she lost all feelings in my lower half and couldn't go to the bathroom on my own accord from a diagnosis of cancer as well as lictict bone lessens. Now I want to start by saying the nurses were amazing as well as the amazing therapist from pt and ot. From the moment she got there the took amazing care of me. And I am so thankful for that. However, what she went through with the doctors was abuse expecially my doctor. Doctor K. When She was placed in his care for therapy on the 21st of February and though my actual therapy didnt start until febuary 22nd that was the day it all began. She came to him unable to walk and had no control of her bladder so her doctors at uams from the cancer Institute placed her in a catheter and told her they didnt believe it should come out from fear of infections as well as with the chances of her unable to use the bathroom on her own. They also didn't thing he could train it since she was in his care for 2 weeks they were unsure she would be able to feel herself going to the bathroom on her one is such little time. So the nurses at the facility just replaced it. on febuary 22 dr.k instructed his nurses to take her catheter out anyway. he didnt believe it was something she infact needed and refuses to listen to her about what she told him it was for. despite that she figured he knew what he was doing and went along with the retaining of her bladder. That is the only thing we believed he did right in that facility. The worse thing he did however from the day she began on his own accord without speaking to her cancer team or her he began lowering her medication dose little by little leaving her in immense pain beliving it was not something needed. Forcing her to do therapy and walk even with her begging for a scan of her left leg because she believed she had 3 more holes (leasures) in her knee, ankle and joint that connects her leg to her upper half and wouldn't give me the scan. However she knew something was wrong. On febuary 25th she began my first day screaming in pain for hours. Unknowing to herself what was going on. She didn't know at the time that he was lowering her medication and our family believed it was maybe because she was pushing herself to hard in therapy so that she can return home quicker. Even though in her mind she didn't feel like that. Febuary 26 she couldn't stay awake for she was only able to sleep and cry. In her mind she though she was nearing her final days from the cancer because it was so painful and my medicine wouldn't work. She cried and begged for help. She begged her sweet nurse, nurse L. not to leave her and to help her. And as amazing as she was she promised her she would be here for her and would do all she could. And she believed every word from her mouth. And still do for as we said the nurses were amazing. February 27th while she was screaming in pain the doctors not believing she was listening since she was crying, began talking over her and speaking on how they lowered her dosage as low as they could for the moment. And they didnt think they could lower it any more but may lower it again soon. she waisted no time in telling our family everything in which they tried to gaslight her. Saying she was delulu because of the pain And they tried to lie and cover up thier illigal doings. They told our family and her that this wasnt going on. However the messed up when they Said that they day I came in they had no record of her nurses taking out her old catheter that caused her pain and replacing it with a new one when her bf was in the room with her. Her mom after talking it over with a few family members decided to pull her out because of all she was realized they were doing to her in there. However, they refused to give me my discharge paper because my mom signed it and wrote on there all they did to me. To make matters worse they tried to call her pharmacist and stop her meds. However they were not her original doctor and couldnt."
"Thank God for this facility! My mom having the opportunity to attend this facility changed our life. I initially left 5 stars because of how life changing the therapy was. I have to tell the whole truth because your loved ones life depends on it. My mom was there for 6 weeks. My family never left my mom alone for more than an hour. Some of the nurses are not very responsive. Overall it was a great experience."
"Everyone in outpatient OT and PT were absolutely wonderful! They were sweet to all patients, wonderful in working with patients in their exercises, and did a great job teaching us how to continue exercises our family member at home."
