"I have never left a restaurant more upset than how I felt when I left Shogun. Seated at the end of the grill filled with 10 people, the chef gave everyone extra fried rice and noodles except for me. All 9 people except for me got a little extra. I sat and waited patiently hoping maybe I would be given something extra later but the opposite ended up happening. I ordered the Hibachi scallops which is listed as having 8 scallops and the lady next to me ordered the Shogun special which is listed as having 4 scallops. We were the only 2 who ordered scallops and she was given 8-9 scallops and I was given 6.5 scallops. Hunger-wise I really don't care about half a spatula of fried rice and 1.5 scallops, but it just felt unfair; and after waiting and being served last, I left the restaurant in a terrible mood. I don't know if the chef was just sexist and or racist, but I guess I did something wrong to be the single person served less food than all 9 other people at the grill. I will never come here again."
"Shogun has been a favorite of mine for many years. Recently, I had the most wonderful birthday dinner there with all my best girlfriends. Normally I don't eat at the Hibachi, but it sounded like fun so we did! Our Hibachi chef did not disappoint! So many fun food tricks and fire, and of course the food was wonderful. I had a Blue Point Roll, Sushi Rice, an Avocado roll, and Cabernet. Everyone else had cocktails with their meal, and they looked beautiful. They even provided a complimentary dessert which we all shared. Couldn't have asked for a better night. Thank you, Shogun!"
"We eat here on a regular basis. took our kid (17 years old) for his birthday lunch. We have always had good experiences here and we love the noodles....this time it was not good. Our cook seemed to be depressed, very little "show" which is not a gigantic deal...but for what our family of 5 paid for the meal...I do expect certain things...like properly cooked fried rice. Ours was crunchy, like it was either not cooked, or burnt..not sure which it was also near tasteless. The veggies were okay...but the fifth person to get the vegetables on their plate got 6 pieces of broccoli and a few onions. Chicken and steak was good. We will probably go back , but will make sure it's a different cook.hopefully it was just an off day or something."
"This was my first ever (and the last) visit. It was conveniently open late on Sunday, and we were hungry. There was a long line at the door, but all these people were waiting for tables at the grill, so learning that we were not particular where to sit hosts seated us instantly. Except, it was a dirty corner, very small greasy table - one side chair, one side bench. There were sticky stains and pieces of rice on the bench (see picture). We should've left right then. But I was trying to be understanding, let's wait and see, maybe the food will be good, and I am hungry. For drinks I asked for a hot green tea. What was brought was a mug with tea and a slice of lemon, but the water tasted like coffee. We should've left right then, but I just wanted to see how worse it can get. I ordered sashimi combo, and my partner ordered filet mignon. For starters, they brought us two salads and two miso soups, except the menu said his soup should be an onion soup. Salad and soup both were terrible (see picture), soup was just a salty water with pieces of mushroom floating in it, salad was cheap iceberg with too much dressing. We should've left right then, but we were already committed. I had a view of bussing station, and seemed that the servers and bussers made an extra effort to bang the dishes in it as loud as possible. At least our waiter was a nice soft-spoken person, not the angry wild-haired wiry guy we saw serving other people. I liked my main course, it was really just raw fish and rice, the fish was all fresh tasting, I am still alive an hour later, I wish it was presented nicer, I would like more ginger on the side and a dipping plate, but it was not bad, and that's why I give them two stars, not one. My beau's meal didn't look like filet mignon, more like a meal from Chinese buffet, and as salty, too. The bill was a few bucks short of a hundred bucks. Our server was nice, I hope he finds a better place to work at, he deserves better. I had to take one more star away, because a few minutes later in the evening I had the worst diarrhea. I should've known better than in a dirty restaurant the kitchen couldn't be safe either."
"First time eating here was an overall good experience. The atmosphere is pretty neat with a great view from the side of the building facing off the hill. The staff were all friendly. The food was extremely filling and tasty. We weren’t fans of the calamari and wish we knew it was cut like that before ordering. But we still ate at least half of it sitting through the large chunks. We will be back!"
