"I went to this school years ago, graduated 8th grade in 1997. I’m sure much of the staff has changed, some haven’t. All I can say is if you send your children here have open discussions with them about their school life. For five years people in a position of authority looked the other way while I was unbelievably bullied. Didn’t contact my parents, didn’t call any of those little monsters out on it. I right l didn’t get it then as a child, it started in fourth grade and continued until eighth. There were significant dynamics that were just outright ignored. Now I’ll give them, I’m a well down advocate for things such as this, it’s not that they aren’t academically well achieving, but when you sweep unwanted social behavior under the rug it has lasting results. My class was a text book case example of the repercussions of both the bullied and the bully on how and why it’s important to intervene. I have lifelong PTSD as a result of having lived thru this. Another former student who otherwise would have been considered coming from a good family with a well above average background goes on the commit a homicide, because no person in a position of authority had told him “no, you can’t act that way” kindness counts, make sure you child’s school has a policy in place to prevent and handle these kinds of scenarios. I am a truly loving and kind person and always knew it was their issues, not mine, but this is how things like Columbine happen. It’s all good and well to win awards and be doing well academically, but what about socially? I live in a neighborhood just behind this school and when it came time for my son to go to school I couldn’t stomach placing him in those evil hallways and classrooms. I happily made the commute to Saint Edward , driving past this school every day on our way. Christ the king is great about riding in their high horse, but if you were to be allowed back at the stable… whole other story. Always be humble and kind."
