"CARspec is truly your dealer alternative. If you have a repair that isn’t covered under warranty or extended service contract you should seriously consider working with John at his shop. 1) 100% transparent pricing up front that is often FAR LESS than the dealer, 2) options on repair taking into account the age of your vehicle, 3) loaner Prius, 4) one of the BEST customer experiences you could have! The dealer estimated to repair a rear differential leak was $2,800. Jon clearly explained that the real estimate would vary depending on the technique he could use specific to the age and model/year of the car (2007 Lexus GS350 AWD). He outlined the best (lowest cost, most likely), middle, and worst (highest cost, least likely) scenarios. If this sounds like a doctor’s visit then you are right. Some repairs on older cars (16 year old vehicle) will have many variables to deal with including different technique depending on the condition and year of your vehicle. The final bill was just under $1,400! Save your money and deal with an absolute professional that knows what he is doing. You will not be disappointed!"

"CARspec - simply phenomenal service and great people. John and his techs are incredibly knowledgeable about all things relating to Toyota and Lexus. Went in for an issue that the local Lexus dealership said would require extensive (read: expensive!) diagnostics to figure out and eventually fix, but the folks at CARspec were able to figure things out within 2 hours of dropping my car off! Would say CARspec went above and beyond my expectations, but I am also learning incredible service is the standard at CARspec. Perhaps just as important and impressive as their knowledgeability, the folks at CARspec are genuinely honest and great people. John has always taken time to answer any questions I may have regarding my car, and he has been honest and clear about what services would actually be required and what is not necessary at the moment. I have never felt pressured or taken advantage of at CARspec - something that I cannot say about other autoshops and dealerships. Long story short, I know that whenever I bring my car in for service at CARspec, I can expect a stress-free experience and that my car is being worked on by the best Toyota/Lexus techs MN has to offer."

"John saved the day literally and financially. My 2008 Prius broke down while driving for no apparent reason. I called Carspec on a friends recommendation and John said he likely wouldn't have time to look at it for a few days so AAA recommended a different shop which could look at it sooner (was not a hybrid specialist). John was kind enough to tell me on the phone that even though I was not his customer, he'd be happy to chat with me about the issue and give me recommendations over the phone for no charge! So nice. Well, the shop I brought it to seemingly didn't know too much about the hybrid system and recommended a $600+ "fix" that they weren't sure was the issue anyways. I called John and he explained to me that the issue they think it is, could not be. I asked him if he could take a look. At this point I didn't care how long it took him. He agreed but said he wouldn't have time to look at it for a few days. I was so confident in his knowledge, I was willing to wait. I immediately had it towed to Carspec. John seemed like he was genuinely excited I had brought it to him as it was a problem he had not seen before. He had a diagnosis and treatment plan for it the next day which saved me hundreds, (if not thousands) of dollars and perhaps a few weeks of time. On Friday, he told me he could maybe get to it by Wednesday which was fine with me. This man had it done on Monday!!!! I am so confident with his knowledge and repairs I don't think I'll ever use another mechanic. I absolutely cannot recommend Carspec and John enough."

"John is very easy to work with. I wanted to replace both my rubber oil cooler pipe and the VVT lines with metal ones but John told me the VVT line was already metal so it doesn’t need to replace. I can trust that he does not overstate potential problems for his gains. I highly recommend this business and will bring my car to him should I need service again in the future."
