"We all loved it there. It was great weather. Not too many people and good fishing. It's definitely a more primitive area, though. No cell service and no restrooms. There are lots more bugs and reptiles and birds."
"Well worth the off-road drive. You can get there in a front wheel drive car as well. We got to see lots of wildlife along the way as well. Great views."
"Great place if u don't mind SUPER hot weather...also zero reception if something happens u would have to walk about 9 miles to get some sort of help... Those final 9 miles are brutal usually it takes us one hour to get to our favorite spot ' you could make it faster if u don't care about ur car lol or not afraid of popping a tired ....we have a pop up camper I would NOT recommend taking one here because of the road ...there are a lot of camping spots with tables and grills for cooking...good spot for fishing... kayaking....u can have lots of fun using your ATV lol ...this is one of my favorite spots to get away from civilization lol oh btw lots of snakes .... scorpions so be careful"
"Awesome, beautiful... will be back when i dont require a data connection(no at&t service in area) Oh btw the road is terrible so plan for about 1hr on gravel going 15mph Still 5 stars"
"This was our first time visiting Horseshoe lake. We normally head straight to Bartlett lake like everyone else. I was pleasantly surprised by the campground. It's small, but it has nice level sites. A few of them are a little over grown, so maybe bring a weed whacker. The lake itself is not very accessable by vehicle. If you have a boat of any sort, you're in luck. We tried to had out at the boat ramp, but it's small and became very crowded. We decided to visit the dam, and happen to stumble upon this little spot right below the main lookout area. It's hidden between a rock cropping and the river, and it's surrounded by trees for complete privacy. We spent both of our days here completely undisturbed. We have 5 little dogs so that was really awesome!! I would recommend taking a vehicle with some clearance. I have a Subaru Outback sport, and it made it there and back fine, but it was really rough on it. Happy camping!"
