"Crowded, rough road, few spots open when i passed thru, first week Feb 2024, pit toilets and trash dumpster available. Available open areas are parked close, very close. Several people appear to be camped long term. Kind of far from rt 95. I ended up passing on this entire area. I did have ok att wireless service, it did cut in/out while there. If you get a spot near the water, it would be a nice spot, though many of these spots seem to be occupied for a long period of time. Yuma is only 25-30 minutes away. I have a 20' TT"
"Great place to boondock camp. This place is very clean and very quiet at night. Lots of hiking trail to venture off on."
"Such a beautiful place! It's free. You only get 10 days out of a year. The scenery is excellent. The water is wonderful and people fish out here all the time. The bathrooms were disappointing. I do not understand why people can be so destructive when given something for free. There are even dumpers down there, and for some reason still people litter. We always go by leave it better than you found it, and since we throw our trash often, we bring other trash we see instead of leaving it. I could not believe someone would absolutely trash bathrooms in a place like this though. If people can clean up after themselves we could have free stuff more often. Destroying property is what is going to get it shut down and reopened with a surcharge for every visit since they'll have to pay someone to clean up after some of the people who don't respect it."
"Great paddling. Quite at night. Army base nearby noise from planes during the day. Great if your self contained. No water, trash cans or bathrooms."
"This was a really nice place to camp for a few days. Everyone was very friendly, and the campground was quiet and clean. Sites were pretty close compared to boondocking on BLM land, but they were actually not that bad. It's basically a large gravel parking lot, with each site side by side, defined by a line of boulders. The sites are large and some have a view of the lake. There are dumpsters across the road close to the boat launch. There are pit toilets up the hill, across from the boat launch - not really meant for the campground as it's quite a walk, but you can use them if you want to. - There is another 'large parking lot' with units side by side, just beside and south of this campground, with a great view of the lake, where the sites are not defined but there are fire pit rings. - There are also a number of small random spots just off the road as you drive around the lake."
