"Fantastic. Truly awe-inspiring. The only place in the world with a dwarf bear puppy lives as well as the siler pin cushion cactus beautiful yet very fragile ecosystem where no pets motor vehicles or horses are allowed excellent for hiking or jogging"
"Great walk in a unique desert environment. The only place on earth the Dwarf Bear Poppy and Pincushion cactus are found. Biologic Earth Crust is also really neat for those who are a bit nerdy like us. Easy access and easy to moderate trails. Hiking only. No pets allowed."
"In my opinion this place is not worth visiting unless the dwarf bear poppies are blooming which happen mid April to early may. If you came here during the summer you would cook. We came during January and its pretty blank and boring hike. No bikes are allowed. It would be pretty with the poppies. If your looking for somewhere to hike that's close and decently secluded this is it. But its pretty bare and boring without the blooming flowers."
"A really different place to hike. A different kind of desert beauty. This is what keeps crowds away. We're usually alone hiking, which I love. We've seen 0-a couple cars in the parking lot at different times. Today, a Monday morning, 1. But we didn't see people because of the different trails, plus on both sides of the road. The bear poppies are budded and blooming. Fun to spot! In my opinion the gypsum trail least interesting. Update: 4/15/21. 3 cars. Lots of buds to come, but some blooms here and there."
"Our first time visiting this interesting area. My kids loved running the trail. Great place to walk in winter when it's not too hot, no shade whatsoever. Interested to come back when the poppy's are in bloom."
