"It is a honor to leave this 5 star review and to be able to express and share how grateful I am to Barton Mendez Soto. After requesting overtime pay, I was terminated from my full-time nanny job. Then, after filing a claim for overtime I was owed, my former employer served me with lawsuit, making false claims against me. Having lost my job so suddenly because I requested fair pay and then to be served with a lawsuit, only after trying to collect overtime pay rightly owed to me, I was under a great deal of stress. I reached out to many law firms and scheduled consultations that cost hundreds of dollars only to be told by most of the attorneys that it wouldn’t be financially worth it for them to take my case. It was very disheartening and I began to think I would end up having to represent myself. I had honestly lost all hope when I came across Barton Mendez Soto. I scheduled my consultation and after speaking with James Barton, I was completely put at ease. A load had been lifted off my shoulders. He was compassionate, positive and knowledgeable. When he told me that he would take my case, I got emotional because it was so refreshing to speak to an attorney who truly cared and didn’t tell me I wasn’t worth representing if he didn’t make a certain amount of money from my case. With James Barton’s perseverance, patience and knowledge, he was able to negotiate my lawsuit being dropped and my former employer paid me the overtime I was owed. I would highly recommend Barton Mendez Soto. I hope I would never need to hire an attorney for employment issue reasons again, but if I did, Barton Mendez Soto would be my only choice."
"Jacqueline Mendez Soto was a beacon of hope to my family at a time when our options appeared limited and the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution seemed impossible. Without the help of Jacqueline and her team, I know that I would not have had the successful outcome I have had. Employment discrimination is a hard thing to prove in in any state but Jacqueline & her staff worked tirelessly to make sure that the truth was told and presented it perfectly. She has stood by every one of my requests and guided me through the entire lengthy process. Though we faced challenges, Jacqueline did not falter. Her thorough research provided us the pathway we needed to rise to victory. I was scared how I would provide for my family, being out of work, but Jacqueline treated us with kindness and respect and did what was in "our best interest" vs just making money! I will only recommend Barton, Mendez Soto, as I have never been nor have I ever seen anyone treated better. I am proud to be a Barton Mendez Soto client and will continue to retain them for all legal matters that may arise as I know I am in the best hands. Talia Wooten"
"Jacqueline put out an incredible effort on our behalf! She listened, put in a lot of time and got results. She did not stop there. Jacqueline continued to follow through, making sure details were taken care of to our satisfaction right to the end. Jacqueline is hardworking, knowledgeable and most importantly, caring. I highly recommend Barton Mendez Soto"
"Barton Mendez Soto is, by far, one of the best law firms in the state of Arizona and the southwest. Their legal acumen is without comparison. The firm specializes in labor and voting law but above all, people. James Barton, Esq., and Jacqueline Mendez Soto, Esq., have the uncommon ability to patiently sit down with a client and listen to the complaint, or claim, and derive a root-cause. They give priority to the client’s needs and do not discount any theory or assertion without careful analysis. Their unbiased attention to detail is essential in setting clear goals in a potential case and explaining those goals to the layperson seeking their counsel. In addition, they are honest in letting individuals know whether there is a case or not without charging unnecessary fees especially to low-income families. In 2017 I approached Mr. James Barton who listened to the circumstances surrounding my case and made a very careful assessment before accepting my case. He explained to me that patience was key and that there were many details needed for the formation of a good case against an employer who seemed like a goliath at the time and was uncooperative. Mr. Barton eventually introduced me to his partner at the firm, Ms. Jacqueline Mendez Soto who also listened intently to my case. After requesting more documentation from the employer and providing that information to Jim and Jacquie, they agreed to take my case on a contingency basis. This was the best news I had received in two long years of struggling to find someone that would help. Jim and Jacquie reassured me throughout the entire process that it would take time and that if I was patient, my case would have resolution. They also explained that nothing was guaranteed and that there were risks such as losing my case in court. Regardless of the outcome, I was elated to work with them and to place my complete trust in their practice. Their assistant, Ms. Monse Vejar, kept the lines of communication between Jacquie and I open. Monse was always available to relay last minute information to Jim and to Jacquie and she was also able to schedule my follow-on consultations without delay. In 2022 my case was resolved and I was very satisfied with the outcome thanks to the efforts of the Barton Mendez Soto law firm. They were instrumental in defending my rights and in the success of my case. I will always be thankful for their great work, effort, and skill. I highly recommend Barton Mendez Soto for your legal needs."
"My employer was denying me paid sick time that I had a right to have. I filed a complaint before the Industrial Commission and won. I thought that would be the end of it, but my employer wanted to fight about it in court, and appealed. I’m so glad I found Jim Barton, who helped write the law to give marginalized workers like me the ability to earn paid sick days. He and Jacqueline Mendez Soto asked all the right questions, carefully read the mountain of paperwork I handed to them, let me see the drafts of the legal filings, and answered all my questions. Best of all: they won the case, and my employer had to pay the legal fees, too. Jim Barton and Jacqueline Mendez Soto are good people and great lawyers!"
