"I turned to Counseling Consultants in the hope of finding support for my anxiety and navigating the challenges of school. My therapist, David, was decently helpful during the short time we spent together. Unfortunately, due to COVID and the fast-paced nature of my schooling, I had to miss an appointment and canceled another in advance. Initially, the cost for appointments was $60, a reasonable fee. However, I was surprised to find that the price per appointment had randomly increased to $150 on the portal. Conflicting information was provided when I inquired about the reason for the price hike, with one source attributing it to insurance coverage and another to the business's policy on canceled appointments. In an attempt to address my concerns, I reached out to Rachel Rubenstein, the owner. Despite explaining that I am a single father, unemployed, and on a fixed budget due to my accelerated college courses, the only option presented to me was a payment plan totaling $450 for the three missed appointments. What was even more disheartening was the lack of prior warning regarding a potential increase in fees for missed appointments. The apparent lack of compassion and what feels like a sudden and significant increase in fees have added to my stress rather than alleviating it. My intention in seeking counseling was to find support for my anxiety, not to encounter financial strain and disappointment. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to reconsider continuing with [Counseling Consultants]. I had hoped for a more understanding and flexible approach, especially given my current circumstances. In conclusion, my journey with [Counseling Consultants] has left me with increased anxiety rather than the support I was seeking."
