"Back in 2012, I worked for the man who owned this building. He had plans to turn it into a brewery with walking tours and a ground-level bar. It was my job to start to get it ready for the preliminary work. I was in this building almost every day for 6mos, I had the run of the entire place. I had to backfill the holes around every column after the stability tests were done, I had to build a handrail for a dangerous flight of stairs, and replace one of the main doors. There were lots of concrete platforms with no safety railings (most likely scavenged for scrap long ago), and some with huge gaping holes, exposing the embedded steel gridwork. The last flight of stairs up to the 5th floor was missing a few treads, had to literally skip a step here & there. It resembled an old Quake map. Filming a movie there with stuntmen jumping around and firing rockets would be interesting. It wasn't haunted by ghosts but by pigeons. The roof is/was 75% gone, so the interior was exposed to the elements for years. I personally had to destroy a few nests, and then install chain link fencing on the upper windows to keep the birds out. And I have hundreds of pictures of the inside. Unfortunately, it's become a "white elephant," too expensive to restore, but too historically significant to destroy."

"This is a 100 plus year old sugar beet factory it is closed so you cannot go inside but if you are an architecture buff this building is very beautiful and well built The brickwork is exceptional"

"Vaguely remember visiting a sugar factory in Phoenix over 50 years ago when I was 5. Saw this pop up on Google and went to investigate. Could be the same place, how many Sugar beet processors could there have been back then? Saw the plaques but did not see anything that was obviously a public museum. Believe that part may have been abandoned. Which is a shame. A key component of soda-pop is sugar and Phoenix gets hot in the summer, so this is a monument of making the Valley of the Sun habitable. Writing this it dawned on me that I probably have never visited the area when getting gas going in the convenience store and buying a cold drink."
