"I heartily recommend the acting classes, staff, and related services at Bright Star Acting Academy and Abby Rey Studios. I started taking acting classes in earnest in July 2023 and am impressed by the knowledge and skills (and patience) of their teachers. They challenged me with various types of roles, genres, script analysis, and to apply techniques from some of the greatest acting teachers. Their teaching prepared me for my first audition (at age 63!) in the 48hr Film Project in September, where I was chosen for a team, played the lead role, and was one of eight actors from 23 teams to be nominated for Best Actor. Their teaching also helped me to be selected as a supporting actor in the 49hr Film Festival in October, and to perform a lead role in a short emotional drama I wrote. I also applied their teachings on character development and emotions to seven screenwriting and filmmaking projects in various stages of progress and completion since September. I could not have achieved this, which far exceeded my expectations a few months ago, without the teaching a guidance from Abby Rey and her excellent teaching staff."

"I have absolutely loved my time so far at the Bright Star Acting Academy! It's run by Abbey Rey, an absolute delight of a human being who genuinely cares about her actors (students). As an actor with a primarily stage background, the Acting for the Camera class has been a perfect transition to film for me! I've not only learned acting techniques from the greats like Stanislavsky, Uta Hagen, and Chubbuck, I've also learned where my eyelines were and what translates best on camera (it's SO different, I had no idea!). She also goes over how to get started in the industry (which casting websites to use, how to set up a self-tape, etc). Something that really sets her class apart from some of the others in the valley that I've audited is the atmosphere she has worked so hard to cultivate. Walking into the space for the first time, I felt safe and welcomed--it was clear that everyone was expected to leave their ego at the door. Her feedback is always helpful and really serves to build me and other actors up. It's an environment where we're allowed to ask questions and try new things. She welcomes and encourages us to ask questions, participate in exercises, and give feedback to each other too so that we can build a community of collaborative actors whose goal is to create and work together."
