"High teacher/admin turn over!! Ran like a daycare instead of a school. My 2 older kids graduated from there; used to be a great school. 10/10 do NOT recommend!!!"
"This school was fine during my first couple years here. But this year on my freshmen year, our principal and Edkey is very unprofessional by firing a certified teacher that put blood, sweat and tears to this school for years because of a disagreement. It’s pathetic how the school and the principal handled the situation and it’s very unacceptable. Because of this, during the year, there has been dozens of transfers, teachers leaving during the year and I guarantee you after this year, more will leave as well. The principal left the school but the damage is already done!"
"The Jr High and High school portion of this school has gone dramatically down hill. They now have a principal that has fired some very experienced teachers which has caused other teachers to leave as well. They have a very hard time keeping teachers in the classrooms and our students education is lacking because of it. On meet the teacher night, about half of my sons teachers were not there and they didn’t have any teacher for one of his classes yet. Upon first day, they had a substitute in 3 of his classes and has had 3 different teachers for his math class. None of which gave their notice when leaving which left the class with no teacher in between. Many parents have pulled their kids from the school and have gone elsewhere. The principal does not seem to care about the quality of education, only how well the sports teams are doing."
"My special needs child tends to say some scary things to try and avoid responsibility. Despite being informed of this on his IEP, they called the police on me when I refused to have crisis counselors see him. Unless you have a flawless and perfect child, I don't recommend this school. They are just as awful as the public schools in the area. Just as a further problem. Yesterday, 10/30/19, a man with a gun stole a student's pickup truck at gunpoint. The school went on lockdown. Cool. However, they didn't even bother to notify us parents that this happened. Between the teacher firings, permanent substitutes, bullying (by both teachers and students), crime, etc., this school is rapidly becoming a ghetto school."
"My kids go to this school. I'm pretty critical, and I had one of my children in the public schools here, home schooled, and now in Pathway. My other has always gone to Pathway. I must say that there have been excellent strides at Pathway. The teachers truly love what they do, and have gone above and beyond to help the students. They have their issues, like any school, but you won't find the personal care and dedication for your student anywhere else. As to the "gate issue", the principals and teachers greet each student with a handshake daily. They really show respect to ALL students. I do believe during the day there used to be intermittent access to the "yard" but no longer. While I think the curriculum should be more challenging, that seems to be an issue with all of the brick and mortar schools that I've made inquiries into. That's where my job comes in to challenge my kids as their parent. The students that I've spoken to have liked the school, and there seems to be very limited bullying. Mr. Gentile is an excellent principal, and I am happy to have him at the helm."
