After years of arguing with other surgeons about my right to make autonomous choices about my birth control, Dr. Kothari listened to me, provided me with options, but quickly agreed that I was the best authority of my own experience. She was compassionate and supported my decisions. When scheduling the procedure, the hospital was trying to charge me a ridiculous amount of money, but Dr. Kothari's scheduler went above and beyond by talking with them to fix the situation. When actually performing the procedure, her team was incredibly kind and transparent with me. The procedure went smoothly and I woke up with very little pain. It was easy to schedule follow up appointments and Dr. Kothari has continued to be thoughtful and kind. She is very straightforward in her communication which might be intimidating for some people, but I really appreciate her candor. When I went in to have my Nexplanon implant removed she told me exactly what to expect which made me feel at ease despite the procedure being more difficult than normal. She is obviously a very knowledgeable and experienced surgeon who advocates for her patients needs. I would call her an activist (thought she never used the term herself) for a patient's right to bodily autonomy. I will be continuing to work with Dr. Kothari as long as I live in Arizona."
