"What a great hike! We arrived at 8:45am, which was perfect, I might even recommend arriving to park at 8-8:30. Parking is on the street, even though Google still tries to take you to a lot (lot is closed). Morning is busier time because everyone is trying to beat the heat. We brought our water bottles, 32 and 40 ounce. Not a big deal to carry, and we needed the water. Marker 14 starts to get a little more difficult. Marker 17-30 is tough. I’m in great physical shape and had to stop to rest often. I would recommend gloves to anyone who is more fragile, doesn’t have grip strength, or just needs extra comfort. There is some climbing up, hold onto rocks and placing feet on rocks below to climb up. On the way down, I stayed low and slid a few times because it was safer. There is a nice restroom (3) at the trailhead, and a water fountain and sink to wash. Worth the work!"
"One of my favorite hikes ever! I typically start at echo canyon and then descend on the cholla trail. It offers great views and is such a unique hike, truly unlike any other. I swear it is different every time I hike but that is part of its charm! Please make sure to bring PLENTY of water and to allow for time as you do not want to be hiking in the dark. Check this hike out!"
"Cholla Trail is a fantastic trail featuring a bit of flatground, rock climbing, steep ups and downs and epic views. Bathrooms, washbasins, and water fountains can be found at the trail head. Be prepared for a mission on this one. Bring lots of water!"
"This hike was amazing; amazing challenging because of the rocks you’ll be climbing and the elevation gain and amazingly worthwhile because of the views. You’ll need both hands, so leave your stuff in the car or carry a bag you don’t need to hold on to or will shift. This is a mix of dirt, gravel, rocks, and boulders. Note: there are 35 markers to the top. You’ll want to know that at some point in time."
"Finally days like today evening 10/02/23 was perfect to get on this mountain again. I went there after work, at around 5:30pm and found a spot to park close to entrance! I was among may be 20-25 people who were there hiking. I hiked to get a sunset view! Coming back i started thinking if they would close the door to the entrance and how would I get out??? Yet, in a dark already, I found that although the door was closed but it was unlocked, so I happily exited the trail."
