"I have to remain anonymous for my safety. Thank you, KAAP! Thank you, Suzanne. I've been a client for 8 years. The very first time I was helped by KAAP, Suzanne , KAAP/Suzzane went out of their way to assist me. I got very upset with Suzanne because something didn't turn out the way I thought it should. I ran Suzzane's name through the ringer, and reported her to her superiors. Eight years later, still trying to make it. This abusive, narcissist, psycho, sociopath, won't let me go. My separated husband. I returned to KAAP, desperately needing help, and Suzanne helped me after everything I said about her. I was scared to death to talk to her. Suzanne was the devout, caring, get things done professional that she is. She acted like nothing had happened. Suzanne isn't the Executive Director position for 20 plus years for nothing. Suzanne is a real professional at what she does. She goes out of her way to help. Once again, Suzanne helped me in a dire situation. I apologized to her. Once again, thank you, Suzanne/KAAP. MA"
"Let me put it this way..your better off trying to navigate through TRUMA, PTSD, HYPERVILIGINCE, & FLEEING FROM DANGER ALONE then to turn to KAAP & receive FALSE HOPE (promises to be the agency to "see you through"), INCONSISTENCIES (offered a U-haul then a Airline ticket, then a Greyhound ticket, down to a $200 gift card - all in the same conversation with Director, Suzanne); ACCUSATIONS & FURTHER RIDICULE; BE TOLD LIES (no beds available at shelter) & when they are called out on their mistakes...not even an attempt to apologize was given. Here's my take on KAAP as I'm beginning to regain control of my life: I'm certain I'm NOT the first person you treated horribly and I won't be the last. But those who fund your organization (MOSTLY FEDERAL FUNDING) will certainly be receiving complaints from me as I share my experience with your agency in every detail. I take notes, even throughout my trauma. I've questioned how many lives over the years have plummeted in result of human carelessness and poor decision making in the wrong hands. To think agencies such as KAAP are specifically intended to be a safe haven, a place to turn too for comfort, support, to provide financial assistance to relocate if that is the best alternative. For a person who has been at the hands of a monster and is physically, mentally & emotionally worn down - we already believe that it is OUR FAULT and we take 100% of the blame for being beat, when it's not ours to take. But then you know that about us..don't you? To lay additional blame on Survivors for your clerical errors..and justify your mistake with further accusations during a time of turmoil for ME? Well, Suzanne, of KAAP that makes you no better than the monster himself!!! Signed, Disgusted"
"THESE PEOPLE ARE MESSY AND UNTRAINED ALL THEY DO IS GOSSIP BETWEEN STAFF AND CLIENTS ! INSTEAD OF RESOLVING ISSUES THEY MAKE IT WORST! THERES NO SAFETY MEASURES THERES NO CONFLICT RESOLUTION !! SAD I CAME HERE FOR HEALING AFTER FLEEING AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP AND ALL I GOT WAS MORE TRAUMA. SO I WAS BEEN Discriminated upon because Im colored Three Caucasian women ganged up on me and was slandering my character So when I defended myself verbally non-violently I still was kicked out of the shelter"
"While I can't give out any specific details with my case, I couldn't have gotten away and started a new life without the staff at this shelter. I will always appreciate them. They helped to give me a new life."
