Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics- Dobson Village

"Dr. Shoptaugh is an absolutely wonderful physician. She was my and my siblings' pediatrician growing up and I absolutely adore her. She is extremely thorough and her medical assistant, Misty, is phenomenal. My son has been seeing her since birth and just recently turned 5. That being said, I was turned away for being 5 minutes late for my son's 5 year well check today. The practice was not accommodating with my schedule and my boyfriend and I both work and this is the time that worked for us. We are not repeat late offenders, nor do we no show our appointments. Our son is up to date on every aspect of his care and is also followed by specialists at Phoenix Children's. I work in the same field in medical administration at a pediatric office and I have never seen a turn away 5 minutes after their appointment time. Phoenix Children's has a very explicit policy that you will be turned away 15 minutes after your APPOINTMENT time and we arrived 5 minutes after our appointment time. We live on the other side of town, took our son out of school early, and drove our quickest despite traffic. I am appalled at the lack of options they gave us - no option to wait despite being late, no option to see another physician, and to reschedule to a different day with our provider that we know is extraordinarily busy. I respect our doctor's time, the clinical team's time, and everyone at the practice. I work doing the same thing. BUT life happens. Not everyone is always going to be perfect, and especially with children. Our son had to use the restroom before leaving school taking his sweet time (as most 5 year olds do) despite us leaving with ample time in advance. I just spoke to the practice manager, Alex, and Alex was extremely empathetic and told me that we should not have been turned away. I am extremely happy with their response, and I appreciated the empathy. I am encouraged that Alex has resolved the issue and will ensure this does not happen to other families. If you have an issue with the practice operation, I highly suggest advocating to Alex as they were empathetic, kind, and transparent. I originally was going to leave this review with 3 stars but now I will with 4 after this interaction. Once again, I want to say all the physicians and their medical assistants we have seen at this practice have been phenomenal. We absolutely adore Dr. Shoptaugh and Misty and I appreciate everything they have done for both my son and I more than they will ever know. And a special shout-out to the practice manager for handling a simple complaint in an extremely professional manner. I look forward to continue my son's care here in the future."

"Horrible place!! Do NOT BRING your kids here, from one mother to another!! Worst doctor office in Arizona ! Gave a 15 grace Period to check in but won't accommodate by it!!! We waited 2 months for this appointment for them to say they can't see my kids because Dr. Jones it all "Booked". I call the Manger and spoke to Alex he changes the story and says "No, we said we can see them but at 10:30".. When our appointment was at 8:30am.. We drove 30 minutes to this appointment.. Its not easy getting a one year old and a 2 year old ready for them to change it to 10:30 when we get there... If Dr. Jones was so "booked" why book our appointment? And you cannot see your provider because they are NEVER IN they only work 2 days a week. If you want to have healthy kids with a good Doctor. This is NOT the place to bring your kids!!! . They never have anything available. The staff lies and the manger Alex backs up the lies!! And it takes 40 min to be seen after your appointment. Horrible place!! Do NOT BRING your kids here, from one mother to another!!.."

"I love this doctors office. Making an appointment is pretty easy, but I have found it’s easier to make an appointment in the morning than in the afternoon. In the morning I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes for someone to answer the phone, in the afternoon I have been known to wait up to 30 minutes."

"Dr. Shoptaugh has been my pediatrician of choice for 6 years and I couldn’t have made a better decision. She has ALWAYS been caring, understanding, patient and eager to teach/explain whatever it is we may need. The level of care that she gives my children is untouchable with any other pediatrician I’ve experienced and I am so grateful for Dr. Shoptaugh & Misty with everything they do to care for my children. We travel an hour to make sure our kids are seen by Dr. Shoptaugh with no hesitation and we will continue to be her patients until she allows. If you’ve ever had any thought as to why you should/shouldn’t go with this practice let Dr. Shoptaugh show you herself every reason why she SHOULD be your childrens’ pediatrician."

"Dr. Amy Shoptaugh is the doctor we have followed not only my entire life, but my brothers, cousins, and even now at 25 my babies lives. We travel an hour and a half just to come see her and will follow her till retirement. She has founded and successfully ran All About Kids Pediatrics. As a child I remembered her deep dedication with every appointment she has had with us as a pediatrician and has carried that with her all the way. Incredible isn’t even close to begin describing shoptaugh. We are forever grateful for her. We love her like family."
