"Finding Three Points has been such a blessing. Sending my daughter to a treatment center was the hardest thing I have ever had to do but she needed more help than what was available in our area. I am amazed at the progress I am seeing in her during our weekly family therapy sessions and our weekly unmonitored calls. Her therapists truly are invested in helping her work through all her issues and have made a great connection with her. There do not use a level system or punishment at TPC but are relationship based which is different from other programs. They are working with only children who are adopted and have realized that traditional methods do not work with this population. One of their main goals is to reunite families so they allow families to visit anytime and allow home visits. These are never taken away from a child because of behavior which was a huge relief to my daughter. They have a wonderful wild mustang program that is part of their therapy. Quarterly parent weekends give us a chance to meet other parents walking the same journey. The weekend is full of educational sessions that are focused on learning more about adoption, adoption trauma, how to help us parent better, and group activities with our children. They also have a wonderful nursing staff. My daughter has some medical issues and they have been great at coordinating appointments and keeping me informed of any problems that she is having. I can honestly say that TPC has given us hope for the future."
"We have had an amazing experience with everyone at Three Points Center. I am flying from Alaska to Utah to bring our daughter home next week. She has been there since May of last year. Including short term hospitalizations it was her 9th placement and the only one that worked. They were all so very kind and patient in the beginning of her stay when she wasn’t “easy.” That was something no one else was willing to do. She tested them to see if they would give up as everyone else had. They didn’t. That stuck with her. I am finally in a comfortable, very optimistic place after 3 and a half years. I agree that those who may have been abused in residential treatment deserve to have a voice against this. It’s not okay to haphazardly bring other places into it. Guilt by association! I can’t say enough good things about Three Points Center. They have given us hope for the future that no one else could."
"My son has been at three points for a year and has done really well. As an adopted child my son has responded to the clinical approach, attachment-based therapy. They do not use a behavioral model, and the staff are amazing, knowledgeable and trauma informed. The best decision I have ever made to support my son."
"TPC is a non-behavioral, attachment-based setting, compassionate and very much relational/loving--one of the few in the nation to address the healing needs of adoptive youth, providing both parent and youth supports (and very transparent about their model, supports, and invitation of regular parent visits). As a therapist myself, I trust the expert work of the therapeutic staff (the work they do is evidenced-based). I don't know what we would do without this organization, I feel they are saving our daughter!"
"My youngest sibling has been at TPC for six months at the North Carolina location. It has been the biggest gift to our family. Norm and Thane are highly compassionate and educated from PhD backgrounds. The equine therapy, small group setting and team of therapists have been extremely important in my sibling’s treatment. There should be more centers like this for adopted teens, what TPC does is extremely special."
