"San Lagos is probably my favorite place I have lived. My one & only complaint is the price. I wish I was a little cheaper so my family & I could have stayed. But besides that, I loved living here. Maintenance was always quick & we’re always nice. The grounds were taken care of. We had the BEST neighbor. I was very sad to leave. If it was a little more affordable it would be 5 star."
"I have lived in San Lagos for the better part of a year now. I will not be renewing my lease. As we move from out of state we did not have the opportunity to tour the apartment or the complex before moving down. The pictures online are beautiful and promising, especially of the inside of the apartments. When we got here things were not at all what we expected. The inside of the apartment complex is outdated and dirty. Not at all luxurious like the photos promised. The appliances are outdated and we have had to have two of them replaced. The maintenance team is amazing all except for one person. If I don't get one particular individual the rest of the team takes care of my issues within a reasonable amount of time and with clear communication. The other individual is a professional at the " landlord special ". He painted over mold in our bathroom when I put in a request to have it resolved. It is since resurfaced as the white paint didn't cover it for very long. This is just one example. The amenities at this facility are amazing and beautiful. They really are, and walking around the complex is still super beautiful and it feels very resort-like. The lighting walking around the complex isn't the best, so it can be dark especially at night. The pool is beautiful but unfortunately it has been out of service for two and a half months now and they have not let us know when it will be reopened. Very unfortunate as these are the amenities we are paying for and they do not communicate about closures or reopening timelines. They also had a very large painting project that lasted about a month that was extremely inconvenient and there was very little communication to the residents about this. One time I even got trapped in the apartment because they taped my door closed. One of the biggest issues of security. They claim to have a gate as well as locked access points throughout the whole complex. Most of the side gates are never locked, and the main gate where you drive in and out is broken the majority of the time. they also claim to have security walk the premises, but I never see them About 2 weeks ago we had our car broken into as well as four other cars in the complex. We went straight to the front office to report the incident and we were dismissed. The person who helped us even said "sorry it really sucks My car's been broken into before but there's not anything we can do". Considering the gate has been broken it's extremely frustrating. We will be paying two grand out of pocket for the damage to our car. We tried to set up a meeting with management and they kept giving us a runaround and I still haven't been able to schedule an appointment with them yet about the incident and it's been 2 weeks. The location is convenient but the price is extremely expensive. We're paying upwards of 2,300 to $2,500 a month with utilities included in the estimate, depending on the time of the year. I think for the price of these apartments (we are in a two bed two bath), we should be getting a lot more for our money. And management should be a lot more communicative and available for the residents. If you are considering living here I would also think about the security aspect, as it's not very secure even though they claim it is."
"Title: Mediocre Experience with Room for Improvement Rating: ★★★☆☆ I recently had the chance to reside at a luxury apartment complex, but unfortunately, the overall experience left much to be desired. While there were some positive aspects, the high price tag did not seem to align with what was offered. Here's a breakdown of my experience: Pros: 1. Location: The apartment complex is situated in a desirable area, with convenient access to amenities, Midwestern, shopping centers, and major highways. This was a significant advantage for residents. 2. Landscaping and pool area (when it’s in service): this is a beautiful complex to walk around and the pool is a fun time when it’s up and running. Cons: 1. Overpriced for the Quality: The most significant drawback of this luxury apartment complex is the unjustifiable cost. The price you pay does not match the quality of the living experience. It was disappointing to invest so much and receive outdated interiors and appliances that desperately needed upgrading. **what you see online is not what you get for many of the apartments units- it looks like 2003 threw up in here** Here’s our price breakdown estimate: -base rent: $1690 for 2 bed 2 bath -after amenity/service fees: ~$2,000 -after power bill: ~$2,150(winter)-~$2,350(summer) 2. Broken Amenities and Outdated Interiors: During my stay, I encountered numerous issues with the amenities provided. The fitness center had broken equipment, and the pool area was out of service for a few months. The hot tub worked about 50-60% of the time while it was open (pool area is currently under construction). Additionally, the interiors of the apartments were outdated, with “renters special” everything coated in white paint (including dust from the ceiling fans), and appliances that were far from luxurious. This lack of attention to detail was disheartening and diminished the overall experience. We’ve had our washer replaced once, and dryer twice due to them placing old worn out units instead of new ones. 3. Security Problems: One of the most concerning aspects was the persistently broken front gate, which compromises the security of the complex. This resulted in unauthorized individuals gaining access to the parking lot, leading to several incidents of car break-ins. They just hit another 4-5 cars last night, broken windows and all. The lack of a secure environment is a major concern for residents and tarnished the luxury living experience. 4. Disinterested Management: The management team's lack of care and responsiveness was a significant disappointment. Despite multiple complaints regarding broken amenities, security issues, and the outdated state of the apartments, the management seemed indifferent to residents' concerns. This lack of attention further deteriorated the overall satisfaction of living in this luxury complex. The only way to get things done is to go over their heads and go straight to corporate. (A maintenance man told me that himself!!) In conclusion, while this luxury apartment complex had some positive aspects, (location and landscaping) the negatives outweighed them significantly. The exorbitant price, broken amenities, outdated interiors and appliances, security problems, and disinterested management team made it difficult to justify the cost. If you're considering this complex, I would advise exploring other options that offer better value for your money and prioritize resident satisfaction. Side note: the water features/lakes attract a lot of geese that crap all over the place. ALL. OVER. And lots of mosquitos."
"My child is a student at Midwestern and I pay her monthly rent. Mark Taylor does not send a paper or email statement for the rent due and we are just supposed to remember (I was reminded that the leasing agreement states this). Nonetheless, I made a simple mistake and forgot to send her rent by the 3rd of the month. We did not receive any reminder during the grace period via email or door tag. Instead a notice was placed on her door on the 4th of the month which is also the day the online portal to make the payment turns off and late fees including a daily charge of $10 has already been assessed. I have lived in other apartment communities and have always been emailed a statement and emailed on the 2nd if the rent was not received on the 1st. It feels like they want us to be late just so they can make a little more money with the late charges. Furthermore, it takes far more time and effort to walk around such a large community attaching door tags when an email reminding us of the rent due would have been so much easier. Please don't respond with I know my rent should be due, because, like I said, it was a mistake. I have the money to pay and even offered to pay 3 months at once if they would unlock the portal but I was denied and had to drive 1.5 hours round trip to drop off a cashiers check. Lastly, I do not use autopay because I have had my accounts hacked and like to be in charge of when my money comes and goes from my accounts. Mark Taylor its time to reconsider how you treat your tenants. Send statements and reminders like your competitors and forgo making extra money on late fees."
"Welcome to “The Epicenter of Luxury”. Included with your package is a front gate that is perpetually under repair, the southeast pedestrian gate which has been broken since 2020, and free covered parking in any spot (you have 24 hours to remove your car before they call the towing company). The positives of this property are its proximity to Midwestern University, a pretty cool pool, a nice walkable interior of the complex, and a fantastic maintenance team. The maintenance team has been consistently great in the 3.5 years that I have lived here, and they are a true 10/10. Negatives include a guaranteed and significant rent increase every lease renewal; my rent has increased by 68% since 2020. The facilities have aged with no upgrades and at least 2 of the 4 TVs in the gym are consistently stuck on the same infomercial. Speaking of the gym, it has nice locker rooms and a Sauna which is in desperate need of refurbishment. Around the complex are multiple lamp lights that are broken or in need of repair. Besides the rent, these are all easy fixes that management could address if they did a monthly inspection of the facilities. On a side note, there has been a sharp increase in misbehaved dogs in the complex. The harsh increase in rent is partially due to lack of housing, so maybe management should be more selective about the pets that they allow. While the limited sight lines in the complex are nice for enriching walks, they can be quite scary at night when you suddenly come into close contact with aggressive dogs and irresponsible owners that couldn’t care less. Overall, I think 3 stars is a fair rating. The proximity to Midwestern is fantastic since you can bike or even walk most of the time, but for the price you’re almost better off renting a house. There are other reviews mentioning receiving a gift basket in exchange for leaving reviews and I have also witnessed this."
