"This complex has a huge issue with the fire alarms. Many times a week the fire alarm will go off, and the alarm sound in the bedrooms is absolutely deafening. I am regularly startled awake by these alarms (which can last upwards of 15 mins), and I am having trouble sleeping due to the stress. The front office has sent out emails asking tenants to be careful when cooking, but haven't indicated any willingness to address the problem on their end. I have lived in other large apartment complexes that did not have this problem, so I know there is more to it than bad cooking. Due to the frequency of the nuisance alarms, residents (including myself) have stopped evacuating the building. As a result, I worry that many people will get hurt in the event of a real fire. I do not feel comfortable living here. Given that these alarms have been an ongoing issue, and the property manager hasn't shown willingness to solve the problem, I cannot recommend the Union on 6th to anyone and will not be renewing my lease."
"I like a lot about this apartment but it is crazy to me that after two years the fire alarms still go off about once a week. They say it’s because they are actually set off by smoke. But, the fire department knocks on my door and said they were set off in our apartment while my roommate and I have been in bed for an hour? They go off an abnormal amount and the time there is actually a fire and no one leaves people are going to get hurt."
"I can’t believe some of these reviews I loveeee union on 6th!! If you live in the west building it may be loud but the east building is quite, clean and the staff is always responsive and helpful if there’s every a issue which in my 3 years living here my roomate and I only ever had two issues ( one minor sink issue and getting locked out of apartment bc of lost key at 3am) they literally answer the phone at 3am to help and came to fix the sink within a couple hours of putting the request loveeee union on 6th so much better then all the other campus apartments that are always having plumbing issues or loudness or no hot water."
"i honestly have NOT had a negative experience similar to some of these reviews. Especially for student housing, I have had a great experience! Move-in day was extremely organized and I had no large issues with my unit. Apartment has clean, in good condition, and was as expected. They had a little welcome gift too, which was nice. I haven't had any issues with the fire alarm or the garage. i have seen issues with the property (like broken door) get fixed in a reasonable amount of time (like 3-4 days). The security is great, in my experience. A FOB is required for the outer street gate, then again at the front door, and even for using the elevator and using every amenity. The office staff are nice and host community events that gave us some free stuff. The store below the west building is also convenient. Sometimes the complex can be loud (especially on Fridays or Saturdays) and you can hear some street noise, but this comes with the location. The complex can't do much, so just consider it comes with the territory. The gym, deck, pool, etc are nice, often clean, and always open. The cost is definitely steep, and I would be a bit irritated to pay any more than I am now, however finances are different. Elevators always work, I have never seen any suspicious people in halls or in the garage, and the apartment is furnished well! I would recommend living here, but lease early so they honor your requests! (They honored our preferences for floor level and building when we signed in mid-fall). Thanks to Lydia for giving us a tour last years, answering our questions, and most importantly, being genuine! If cost isn't a huge concern, I would definitely look into this place! In all honestly, mostly based off of the security, the furniture, and the nicely renovated units, I have enjoyed the last few months much more than my previous leases."
"Lived at union for a year... It's a nightmare. They use trash material to build the apartment. My room was close to the street, every night you would hear the alarm of the train until 3am,and street noise started at 5am. Even sometimes you can hear the sound of the wind. The maintenance team took my kitchen appliance and never came back. I can't cook for four months. Now I am waiting for them to give me back the deposit fee. They claimed that I will receive the deposit fee at most in 4 weeks, but now it has been 7 weeks, and the front desk receiptant said that they are not responsible for returning the deposit"
