"I've lived here for four years, and I love it here. It's one complex that is locked down, no one can just walk in, and in these days, safety is a huge concern. The apt is very spacious, and it comes with a huge Az room that you are not charged for. The pool is heated in the winter, but we also have a huge hot tub that is attached to the pool, and if you want to cook some steak or burgers feel free to use the grill in the pool area. The elevator has been priceless when you come home with a ton of groceries or just tired from a hard day's work. We watch out for everyone here. Many have been here longer than me. Mary, the manager, and Chris are so helpful. If you need them, they're here in a snap. If you have a criminal past, don't try to live here. You will be declined. They do a background check for our safety. If I could give more stars I would."

"I have lived in The Van Buren Apartments for almost 3 years now. I love my apartment and the space it provides. I will never get tired of the amazing view. And most of all, I absolutely appreciate the wonderful community manager, Mary. And the equally wonderful maintenance supervisor, Christopher!! This team works so hard every day, managing the building, maintaing and making beautiful updates (we just got an amazing and beautiful new pool!), and they always make sure I feel at home. They are always willing to listen, are extremely professional, and have the best attitude you could ask for in a management team. All included with a wonderful sense of humor. I obviously love living here, and feel like I found a home. Thank you, Mary and Christopher, for all that you do!"

"Congregation Anshei Israel sits across the street. If it seems to be to good to be true it’s the Van Buren Apartments. Mary Martin has managed to turn a nice but crumbling from the inside building into a Authoritarian nightmare. “Control Signs” cover the elevator doors inside and out. My friend has lived there for years and when I visited from out of town she frequently changed my friends lease so that she can only have a guest for 5 days now. Mary Martin will look for ways to fine the tenants. For example she will stand outside your door until your dog barks and then call you at work and threaten to fine you for it. I have seen a lot of people move from there. They refuse to fix things like a garbage disposal so they told my friend “don’t use it”. The plumbing is so old that some apartments can’t be rented. I think they need a serious building inspection before it collapses and kills or injures the residents at 625 N Van Buren Avenue Tucson AZ 85711. Because she has lived and worked there for 18+ years she feels she can treat her residents any way she deems appropriate and plays favorites. I suspect an audit of residential lease agreements 60+ pages long will reflect this but her Son is an officer with the Tucson Police Department so she feels she is above the law. Her authoritarian policies and demeanor really ruin what could have been a beautiful place. No amount of landscaping makes up for paying to walk on eggshells Nobody needs threats, intimidation and fines when they return from work. If your rent is one day late (due to a bank error) you will find an eviction notice on your door and she will threaten you. Basically Mary Martin has turned 625 N Van Buren into some kind of Authoritarian Institution. Stay far away. After she ran across the lobby still wearing a mask 2023 and threatened to have me arrested over a 1/2 inch by 1 inch sticker I put in the elevator. (She had the sticker in a plastic “evidence bag”.) I can not return to visit my friend. I suffer from Complex Prolonged PTSD and that was an extremely traumatic experience in public in front of other tenants.Completely unprofessional. She could have asked me into her office and I would have apologized for a momentary lapse of judgement. Look elsewhere and if your Jewish I suggest you stay away. Mary has become considerably worse over the years and can no longer hide her anti- semitism. I always thought it was strange that seemingly no Jews live in a building across from the temple because it’s customary to walk on the Sabbath. Mystery solved. MEB Management owns the building. Mary acts like it’s her own. I have filed a report with the anti defamation league. (ADL)"

"I lived at the Van Buren Apartments for about two years between 2017-19 and really liked it. It offers the best, most spacious layouts you can find in Tucson for the rent you pay. I was moving to Tucson from Europe and I wanted a place that would feel safe for my family when they visited from India. The controlled access building at the Van Buren is very similar to what you find in Europe and it’s as safe as it gets in Tucson. The place is conveniently located on bus route 3 and the ride to U of A campus is under 20 minutes. It is also located close to the 3rd street bike boulevard, which is very safe to ride a bike on all the way to the U of A campus. The building is very quiet and peaceful. The residents at the Van Buren include senior people to working professionals to U of A graduate students. Some of the senior people would regularly hang out in the lobby. I enjoyed greeting them and occasionally chatting with them on my way in and out of the building. Overall, it is a nice, friendly community to live in. The manager, Mary, is a friendly and genuinely caring person. Mary was extremely helpful right from the time I contacted her from Europe asking for photos of the apartments. When I arrived in Tucson, Mary helped me procure used furniture for the apartment, which made it easy for me to settle down. She was very friendly to my parents when they came to stay with me briefly and made them feel welcome in the community. Along with Christopher, who is in charge of Maintenance, Mary runs the place like clockwork. I seldom had any concerns with any of the amenities, and in the rare event of some issue, it was attended to promptly and solved perfectly. Finally, when I had to move out on short notice due to an emergency, Mary was once again very understanding and helpful. I think I was lucky to find and live at the Van Buren Apartments. I highly recommend the place for anyone who is looking for a spacious, safe, quiet place and a friendly community to live in in Tucson."

"I recently moved out of the Van Buren Apartments after two wonderful years. I have to say this is the best apartment complex I have ever stayed at. When I first applied to the Van Buren the manager Mary was great, it felt like she really listened. Me being the frugal person I am she even help me to learn I could send digital check via my bank without having to pay a fee for rent. Chris the head of maintenance there is great, I wanted to have a pot rack and cloths line installed and he had no problem with it. In fact I cannot remember a time that I ever had to wait longer than a week after a work order was put in. My building is nice with an open area for apartment events from the the bagels, donuts and coffee even that happens once a month at 9AM to the monthly birthday parties to celebrate those that have a birthday that month. I never used the pool area so I cannot comment on that, but I will say the mailbox area is perfect for those days you really do not feel like doing much, but hey the mail is right there no need to really walk out in the elements for it. For the most part everyone is very friendly, and never had a problem with a neighbor. The concrete walls are a good touch. Many reviewers say this place has an east coast feel, me being from Chicago it reminds of it. I like having a hallways to walk out to, if you need to throw out trash there is a shoot. There are two laundry rooms on each floor that are kept up well, and the price is right at 75 cents to wash and 75 cents to dry. I think it is like that people of the low maintenance. The one bedroom I stayed in had a huge kitchen, plenty of counter space for prep, I even had a deep freezer with all that room. The move out process was perfect, Mary checked everything without a problem. I was not charged a dime. Honestly I can go on and on about how great it was to live here. All I can say is I hope to find another place like this again, I wish I could take it with me. This is a community that is worth being apart of."
