"Do NOT bring your baby here unless you want it undergo severe barbaric treatment with zero post care support. This review is written based off our experience as well as comparing it to the 2nd Doctor we had to see for a tongue tie revision since Dr. McKechnie botched the first one and was done incorrectly TLDR - McKechnie’s uses outdated equipment to perform this surgery to burn the tongue tie instead of using a laser like all other doctors. McKechnie’s way causes substantially more pain and she provides zero post surgery instructions which caused the tongue tie to reattach. She canceled our follow up appointment and never rescheduled. Her standard of care is below what is considered acceptable and our 2nd and 3rd opinions reaffirmed this and disapproved of her methods. Originally, I went for myself to have my nose looked at and we inquired about a tongue tie surgery for him so we scheduled an appointment with their pediatric ENT. She was very professional, friendly, and empathic during the appointment, identified the tongue tie, and wanted to do procedure right then and there. She comforted us with saying the procedure only takes 5 minutes (which it does, our 2nd one was but not McKechnie’s), it’s minor, there’s minimal pain so knowing we needed to get this done for him, we cautiously agreed but we weren’t allowed to be in the room while it was done? But our 2nd revision the doctor allowed us to be present in the room 15 minutes later instead of 5, things felt weird. She left the room giving us very little comfort or support, it felt like she was in a rush to leave. Our baby was absolutely hysterical, screaming bloody murder! At the time, we thought this was normal but trust me it absolutely was not and is not. Our 2nd tongue tie procedure, our baby was in pain, crying, etc. but he calmed down after 5-6 minutes versus McKechnie’s procedure he cried himself to sleep 30 minutes later. The office manager gave us her direct phone number after the procedure. We reached out to her multiple times in regards to our sons inconsolable crying. At day 5 after he was still hysterical for 3+ hours and refusing to eat, we called and requested to come into the office because in our gut we knew something was wrong. They disregarded us, told us to give him Tylenol around the clock, stop doing the stretches our lactation consultant showed us and coming in before his follow up wouldn’t change anything. Well it would have. My son had a posterior tongue tie, and he was suffering from burns from the tip of his tongue to the back. He still has scars from where she burned him with cautery on the tip of his tongue The amount of scar tissue from the procedure reattached the tongue. Please reconsider before taking your baby here. The pain he experienced could have been prevented had we gone to our 2nd provider first. It took 5 weeks for him to heal physically and emotionally from his first tongue tie when it took days for him recover after his second. EDIT AND RESPONSE TO MONICA (who has no medical background and just trying to cover themselves): Yes, we are aware that we signed a consent for procedure and there was a possibility of the tissue to reattach. But the concern comes in of how the procedure was performed and the lack of care after. Yes, your provider did tell us to do “sweeps” under the tongue briefly but those were not the exercises that were shown to us by the second provider. And you are also telling us these post operative instructions with a baby screaming bloody murder. Not sure how well that will resonate. No PRINTED instructions were provided. Also you did not leave a message to reschedule. That is false. When a patient calls you considered, especially about a baby, it is not good practice to write them off, he should have been seen immediately. Knowing that this experience could have been prevented had we gone to another doctor in the first place, breaks our heart even more. The doctor technically did her job, but we are warning other parents so they don’t have to go through what we went through."
"I am very disappointed with the professionalism of this company. I was a patient and had a yearly follow up scheduled, but received a text message that there was a conflict and needed to be rescheduled. While this was a mild inconvenience, I rescheduled my appointment for a much later date. 9 days before this re-scheduled follow up appointment I received yet another text message that there was a conflict and my visit needed to be rescheduled. It seems that my needs as a patient were being pushed aside. I am also a healthcare provider who has patient appointments scheduled throughout the day. I can't just keep rescheduling all of my patients because I keep getting pushed back. I was offered an appointment with the PA, which I was completely okay with, but not after the statement "it is less likely your appointment will need to be rescheduled unless she is pulled into surgery". Really? Needless to say, I will be moving to a diffrent provider."
"I can’t say enough about Scottsdale Ear, Nose and Throat. Everyone has been incredible. They are so knowledgeable and come from a place where they really want to help. I appreciate Bridget Albright so much who finally figured out what the issue was and how to help. Anthony Veglia has been life changing for me. I highly recommend them."
"I spoke with Dr. Heiland about an ongoing tonsil issue after visiting the PA Bridget weeks before. Bridget was lovely and seemed to care what I had to say. However, Dr.Heiland was extremely rude, had no interest in hearing what I had to say about my own health and seemed incompetent, with his only goal for me to get my surgery there. He simply recommended me more antibiotics after being on them for 2 months with no affect despite me expressing my concern for ongoing antibiotic treatment. Worse, he was rude and unprofessional to me, which made me uncomfortable. The first thing he said when he walked into the room was "hi mama mia" and then after asking, said that the degree I'm pursing (molecular biology) was too perhaps too 'focused' for me. I never write reviews, and can only speak for my experience, but it wasn't a good one."
"Extremely rude front desk staff. I literally had them get mad at me for not being hear what one of the gals, Sara was saying. She was across the office desk with her back turned to me. If I am not mistaken ENT, includes hearing. That's a joke. It does. Furthermore, when Candy read my PCP to me, I had never heard of them. Yet it was in my chart! That's a HIPAA violation. Especially if they shared my info! Next, tried to speak to Alexa and share with her how overbearing it was to have 4 people say in unison the same thing to unexpectedly. She just stared at me. There was nothing but a blank stare. They literally didn't care if I breathing or not. There are a lot of good doctors out there, skip this office!"
