"I went into emergency labor and delivery today at this hospital and had a terrible experience. The front desk girl was super nice and informative, however the nurse and DR in triage were very dismissive and pretty rude the second they found out I was in recovery from drug use. Mind you, I have been sober 5 years this year, and still I was treated poorly in my opinion. The nurse was nice and attentive until she found out about my recovery, then she completely changed when she found out that detail. I do not think it's appropriate for medical staff to change the way they treat people based on someone's past, or for any reason for that matter. Regardless, patients should be listened to and shouldn't be dismissed. I wanted to deliver my baby here when he's due but now I think I'll find another hospital to have my baby at. Do better Abrazo West."
"All the doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists took great care of me. They all had great attitudes no matter the time or what was going on. I don't ever want to go to the hospital but if I have to I will always try to go here."
"Staff in the ER were great, but everything beyond that point has been awful. God help any patient who doesn't have family to change and feed them. The minimum wait for a change has been 45 minutes. Meanwhile my loved one's skin is raw from laying in urine and feces. I stay all day and change and clean him now, but am 75 and it is physically challenging. I have asked multiple times to speak to the doctor about his status and medications with no response after 24 hours. He does rounds before visiting hours start so good luck trapping him to get any answers. My loved one has Alzheimer's and even without that is too ill to advocate for himself. What happened to the days when patients didn't have to lay in their own waste and doctors cared enough to communicate with a patient's loved ones?"
"My emergency room experience and Labor and Delivery experience are different. But as for L&D they were absolutely amazing. Made me feel comfortable and were very tentative and empathetic. All of the nurses were great but the ones who stood out the most to me were Jessica, Tammy and Samantha. My superheros. Thank you so much for all that you do and have done for me "
"Do Not Let Your Loved One Die Here. Our parent has been on every floor of this hospital and depending on the floor, and shift, you might find a few caring staff. Since communication between staff members, patients and family members suffers greatly, it adds to the stress and pain of an existing situation, not to mention the HORRENDOUS and UNETHICAL bedside manner of some of these physicians. We asked to have one removed from ever speaking with us again for that reason. Once we were moved to ICU, nursing staff became what it should be, compassionate and attentive. Yet once sustainability of life becomes a question, BEWARE. Some of these doctors Do Not want you there breathing their oxygen any longer than necessary, and if they can, don't put it past them for hurrying the process making it UN necessary. If you must, stand your ground. Stay informed. Don't hold your breath for a social worker, but keep communication open and acknowledge that they are in a hurry for an available bed and they will back off quickly. Thank God for the Chaplain for his help during this very difficult time."
