"I recently used arizona family auto repair. I own a 2004 fully manual ford escape. had roughly 220,000 miles on the engine but is in all around great condition. By this I mean that the engine still runs great & the transmission is also working well. Well my it started dying randomly on me while I was driving. upon my own research i discovered that it was most likley my efm or (electronic fuel module). A 230$ repair. I took it to family auto told them my diagnosis & asked them if they could confirm my issue. 3 days later after not hearing anything at all I finally called them to see where we were. They told me that I was wrong & unfortunately needed a new clutch and flywheel. A 2400$ repair. I was initially confused as to how that could be the issue as I had not experienced any difficulty getting the vehicle in or out of gear and it seemed wierd to me that the clutch could cause the truck to studder then die as if it wasn't getting enough gas. But knowing the trucks mileage. I paid them the 2400$. They did the repair. Fast forward 2 months. I'd driven the truck maybe a total of 30 miles over 5 small trips to work and boom all of a sudden it was doing the same exact thing! Dying on me after shuddering like it needed gas. This time I assumed it had to be something to do with the electrical system. I'd just ruled out the efm and the clutch was brand new. Frustrated I took it to Larry Ford who promptly told me that I needed a new clutch & flywheel!!! Yes about 60 miles after just put one in I towed the truck back to family auto & showed them my diagnostic from Ford stating that I needed the repair they supposedly had just done after only having driven maybe 60 miles! Again they said they would look into it. They said it made no sense that I would need a new clutch so fast & that Ford had to be wrong. another 3 days later and me having to call them. I was now told. "Your clutch and flywheel are fine! " "It's your emf or electronic feul module!" I told them; "that can't be, because when I brought you my truck that was what I told you I thought was wrong with it, & you specifically told me that "no". " It was my clutch and would run me the $2400 instead of the 230$ ." Chris who I spoke with kept his cool but quite flustered informed me that "that wasn't what he remembered." & that he swore "I had issues with my tyranny slipping when I brought it in.." then charged me $230 to do the fuel pump. They misdiagnosed my issue then sold me the most expensive possible fix first instead of trying the cheaper alternative. that's not to say that when they opened up my truck I very well may've been close to needing my clutch replaced. I may've been able to get another 5,000 miles out of it or maybe not. who knows. But the fact was the issue that was causing my problem was not my clutch! wether it was going to be in need of repair soon or not, that right there left a terrible taste in my mouth from them. I understand that Ford assumed the same thing & even understand them saying I should replace my clutch when they did . It was probably close to needing repair. But they completely denied misdiagnosing my truck. Now there saying that both parts were failing at once. if that were true they would've noticed it the initial time I brought my truck in & would've told me "yeah your correct your efm is bad,but so is your clutch & flywheel are all needed." but they Didn't. They told me my emf was fine. I'm guessing that cause and effect were the only diog they actually did as ford misdiagnosed the same exact issue. so I feel like it's possibly a very commonly misdiagnosed issue. So I don't think that they purposely tried to get me to buy the most expensive fix but as a customer, them not being able to say "oops we were wrong but you really were getting close to needing a new clutch so u should be happy we replaced it." would have left me feeling a ton better then them denying any mistake at all, then charging me full price for the emf they told me was fine at 1st. Left me feeling indignant as a customer."
"For me, the mark of a good auto repair shop is how they perform not when everything goes well, but when hiccups happen. They've worked on our fleet vehicles before without issue. Well, I brought my personal van in for repair, ran into a hiccup, were reasonable throughout the repair process, and they handled everything with integrity. Kudos to Jason for being a stand up guy and for being transparent, reasonable, and honest. It is obvious that, especially in this Arizona summer heat, these guys are hard working and want to do what is best for their customer. Nod to Chris for his communication throughout the repair. I will be returning."
"These guys were awesome. Got me in and diagnosed and fixed my problem fast and for a reasonable cost. Great place you just have to plan ahead and be patient because it is a small, family owned and operated shop. Awesome service."
"I took my vehicle up to Jason early on during the pandemic for a concerning coolant leak (thought I wrote a review for that already). I was worried the leak might be a significant problem, but he was able to service it and get me back on the road to Tucson quickly and for a lot less than I expected cost-wise. I'm getting ready to take it back up to him to have some additional work done. Willing to drive 100+ miles to have it serviced here because I know the team is reliable, cost is reasonable and work is done with a lot of care. Thank you so much for your exemplary customer service and satisfaction!"
"Took my powerstroke diesel to Jason for a coolant flush, water pump, and some electrical repairs. The young lady at the front desk was very polite. Jason was extremely responsive and thorough with explaining what needed to be done, including phone call updates along the way. The quote he gave me was outstanding, and he completed everything faster than I had anticipated. Support your local small business and look no further, Jason is the real deal!!! A++++"
