Soup and sausage 4030 East Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85032

"My wife had noticed the restaurant opened in our neighborhood (40th St. and Bell Road) a few months ago and we finally went for lunch 3/17. Incredible. She had the borscht and pelmeni sampler. I had a cup of solyanka and the vareniki, sauerkraut and sausage combo. We traded bites, and both loved everything. (At our server's recommendation, I mixed the regular mustard with the 'kraut and used the extra hot mustard on the sausage. It was perfect.) It was the best borscht I have ever had, very rich and flavorful without being at all heavy or overly earthy. Both the soups were light and rich at the same time and exploded with fresh, clean flavors. Everything was freshly made and perfectly cooked. Our server, Patrick, was very personable, knew the menu top to bottom and made great suggestions when asked for input. For dessert we split a (generous!) slice of honey cake that was so light, airy and multi-flavored that I would have gladly eaten more until I'd made myself sick. The portions are hearty but not overwhelming. The room is clean and well-kempt. The staff is friendly and attentive without being smothering and the food is the best Eastern European food I've had in a very long time. We will be going back often."

"Really good hidden gem. The restaurant is clean. Counter service. Pretty unique food at least for me. The Italian sausage is delicious and some of the best around in my opinion as an Italian American. The sausage is cooked to order and served hot, juicy, and extremely tasty. The sausage plate came with the baby boiled potatoes. A simple, but fantastic dish. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and complemented by the herbs and touch of butter. The hearty chicken bouillon soup was solid as well. Plenty of chicken, served hot, and not too salty. I will definitely visit this place again."

"If you are into Eastern European foods- you will love this place! As someone who grew up in USSR, all the foods we had here reminded me of growing up eating these dishes! Pelmeni (dumplings) were incredible!!! Can vouch that this food here is authentic and delicious. Brought so many good memories. Don’t skip dessert either- that honey cake is amazing!"

"Fantastic food! My mother and I visited the first day they were open. The pierogi, dumplings, and borshch were amazing. There's such a great variety of options for many dishes that you can try different things every time and still eat your favorite. The kyivski cake was AWESOME too, and so pretty I just wanted to stare at it. Very much here for supporting authentic dishes!"

"Today we checked out the new location of Soup and Sausage on Bell Road. This location is just as good as the original on 7th Street! We had parogies, sausage, and soups. They were top notch, sooo good a great break from the chain restaurants around."
