"Ummm, not sure the best way to write this review. They have a very enticing menu; a lot of dishes look like they have great potential, but unfortunately, the night we went, it was all pretty blah! Additionally, the service was also pretty mediocre. Friday evening dinner around 6 pm downtown Gilbert, wait for a table for 4 was just about 5-10 minutes. Initial glasses of water came fairly quickly, and then it went mostly downhill. Drink refills had to be requested several times, and even then, it was slow. All 4 of us looked at the menu thoroughly, decided what we wanted and laid our folded menu on the table, and still had to flag down our server to order. Food took quite a while to come out, and when it finally did, 2 of the dished were cold, and one of them came out wrong. The server did notice it was wrong, but by then, we were all so disappointed we just wanted to eat and leave. Oh yea, 3 came out with bread, and one didn't? All the dishes had plenty of food, it just wasn't that good. My Shrimp Caprese had half a dozen nice sized shrimp but zero flavor. It's possible, I'd give them another shot to try some of their pizza, but not on Friday evening - too many other great choices in that area."
"Meh. That pretty much describes our experience here. We had never been to an Oregano's...ever...so this was a first for us. We love food, especially good pizza, and definitely Chicago style pizza. We have 3 other local Chicago style pizza places we like, and we figured we'd feel the same about Oregano's. Be aware that you have to get on Yelp if you want to be on the call-ahead list, and trust me, you do want to be on that list! Since this was our first time going, we had no idea, and even though we showed up when there was only 1 other group waiting for a table, we still waited almost 40 minutes for one (even though the host told us 15-25 minutes). We kept watching group after group come in and get seated before us. We obviously missed the boat on that one! The lobby is small, and as more and more people packed in, the heat and humidity became unbearable. After 40 minutes of standing there, we considered leaving but were called up at that same moment so we stayed. During that 40 minutes I had plenty of time to see all the charming things about the restaurant itself! The decor is fantastic, kind of steampunk with an Italian twist, and the colors are vibrant and fun. They also have TVs playing old black & white shows, which is a fun touch. I give the atmosphere more stars than the either the service or the food for sure. The hosts were nice, the waitstaff was nice, when they were around, but we felt very ignored the entire time. My water was never refilled. Our dinner came 40 minutes after we ordered it. The food lacked any real flavor, so it's convenient they have seasonings on the table. We ordered the thin crust chicken pesto and the thin crust numero-uno and a side salad. I liked the presentation of the pesto, with the thin sliced tomatoes and thin sliced chicken, but I wish it had better flavor. The numero-uno looked lopsided with cheese on about 3/4 of it and the rest without any. The croutons on the salad were really good, like mini garlic toasts, but the salad was otherwise unremarkable. Overall it just wasn't a great experience, so we'll stick with the other Chicago style pizza joints."
"Place was very busy and we got seated in about 10 minutes. The restaurant has a great theme throughout. Was greeted by several staff members as we walked by to our table. Ryan was our server and took care of us! Large portion sizes and good quality. They also offer a Gluten Friendly menu."
"I always come here to buy pizza since it's so good, but this time it was disappointing. I found that stick inside one of the slices, good think i was poking at my pizza, imagine if I would have taken a bite with that stick in there, could've gotten lodged in my throat or something."
"I have always heard nice things about this restaurant, but my experiences never added up. The waits are long, always busy and no seats, and management is all over the place. We decided to try again and our server Ryan was awesome. He suggested good things on the menu and was very attentive even through the chaos. Alfredo and mac and cheese are good, pizookie is a staple. He made this a good experience. Would go again."
